Unfortunately he has always relied on just the big punch. Kind of like Tyson when he started to fight guys that could actually box he got whipped.

I’m about to tell err’buddy Im old af without telling err’buddy I’m old af.

Several things happened that made Tyson less effective later in his career, but boxing chops were not one of his problems until Don King got in his ear and he dropped Kevin Rooney as trainer.

89’-93’ Holyfield didn’t want anything to do with prime Tyson. After prison Tyson was never the same fighter.

Then…the game changed. 6-6 giants weighing 250 and above entered the fray (still think there should be a super heavyweight classification for these guys)
This changed the heavyweight division.

If guys at 126 want rehydration clauses and catch-weights when they fight a guy at 130 to avoid being “weight-bullied”, then why does it make sense for a traditional heavyweight to be expected to fight guys who are 6 to 10 inches taller and outweigh them by 20-50 lbs?

Bottom line, pre-Don King Tyson was the greatest boxing machine ever assembled at the classic Heavyweight size.

He made some bad life choices, bad business choices, did some time and got old. During this time, the game changed.
