deaux68,

You are a pretty good poster here and are usually pretty reasonable. I know that there are LSU fans who will always hate Alabama and not give them respect, but I am not one them. You're right. We all have our bad fans.

I knew that Alabama was a scary team during the Clemson game. The Georgia game was just ridiculous. All along I've said that Alabama had talent. You have had great recruiting classes the past 5 years. Bama fans have criticized their own players to draw a distinction between Shula and Saban and it was never accurate. Saban is a great coach and he got talented players to really play well together as a team, something Shula could not do very well. That has been the difference.

I also picked Alabama to beat LSU and to beat Florida. So, this is not coming from a Bama hater or someone who did not see what a special team you guys had.

Saying all that, my point remains: You were winning going into the 4th quarter and you should have won the game. You blew it and I'll be surprised if you get this close again. If Jarrett Lee doesn't throw 4 INT's, LSU wins and it doesn't matter what you do on Saturday. That's how hard this is. Alabama was the better team against LSU, but you still could have easily lost. You'll be the better team in most games next year, but going undefeated again will likely not happen.

Bama has been praised and given credit on this board way more than I've ever seen credit given by Bama fans. Turning the tables is not out of line or is it without merit.

Bama's high tide was in Atlanta (as far a national championships go), in my opinion.

Actually that would've been better for us. We could've lost and still worked our way to the SECCG with a chance to play for a NC. The earlier you lose the better. See LSU 2003.

Say what you want. Like I said I gave LSU plenty of credit and still do.

Like I said it may have been, but we won't know. I feel pretty good right now with who is piloting the ship.

12-1 vs. 6-6

Um, we went 7-5 this year. Are you talking about Bama going 6-6 last year?

quote:

the fact TROY yes TROY dominated your "team"

If games ended at the end of the 3rd quarter, Troy would have dominated us. But, games are 60 minutes long and we scored 37 straight points to win the game 40-31. I know that Alabama fans wish today that games were only 45 minutes long, because if they were, you would be playing for the National Championship right now.

quote:

you could shut the frick up

Or, I could post what I want to on an LSU board. If I were on an Alabama board, then you could call a mod and tell me to "shut the frick up." The fact that you don't know where you are makes your last response ridiculous.

Anything else you want to debate?

Then you and I could sit down, be friends, pull for our teams, and recognize great play in the other team. That is how I am with my Bama friends and they are the same with me. We get along great.

This post is directed more towards the Bama fans who don't give credit where it is due. It doesn't apply to you, CrimsonCutie, or some others. But, where it does apply, let it.

As for Alabama, criticisms over what happened on Saturday are valid just like criticisms over us losing to Arkansas last year were valid. I'm just posting them.

And, of course I don't know the future. I'm just going off of what has happened in the past. Blowing this off by saying that Bama will be in this position again is also opinion. And, history supports my position far more than it does yours. Again, just ask USC.

Nice. This is an LSU fan that reminds me of the Bama fans I am targeting in this thread.

Yes, there are message board lunatics in every fanbase.

I wasnt trying to flame in this thread. Just wanted to point out two things:

1. Alabama 2008 is the first team to go undefeated in season and lose in championship game. LSU has never been in that situation, but if they were I think the fans would be very dissappointed. Any fans would be really.

2. The Alabama fans are dissappointed. And they should be. Trying to pretend its all great and everyone is happy is just not reality, as indicated by the link I provided.

This is what I love about bama and its love for our former coach. You don't REALLY know what you've gotten yourself into. You think you have something in your Troy argument. In fact, it's so much sweeter because we were BCS champs last yr, Right?

Then you're going to hate reading this:

LINK

And since I know some of you won't read it, I'll highlight the "special" parts of the Troy game Saban coached, the very year after he won his split championship

quote:

Tigers Survive Scare, Outlast Troy 24-20

quote:

Troy clawed and scratched its way to a heart-breaking 24-20 loss in what could have been a back-breaking loss for LSU.

quote:

Tiger QB Marcus Randall ended the game the hero after leading the Tigers to a comeback win. Randall eventually became the game's hero when he found tight end David Jones for the winning score on a 30-yard touchdown pass with 2:18 to play.

quote:

But, Randall could have just as easily been the goat after throwing 3 interceptions, 2 of which led to Trojan scores.

This should sound familiar...
quote:

Chris Jackson entered the game for an apparent 52-yard field goal attempt. Instead, QB Matt Flynn threw to TE end Keith Zinger who was immediately tackled well-short of the first-down marker.

LSU HEAD COACH NICK SABAN
...Opening Statement
quote:

We couldn't run a lick on their defense. Obviously, the turnovers were a big factor in the game. The turnovers are a big problem. It effects field position. It was our goal to try to dominate the team that we play, not necessarily on the scoreboard, but physically in the game and I don't think we got that done. If we don't learn how to do it, we are not going to play with any consistency.

Good luck in the future. You're gonna need it.

Yes, yes. Laugh at us everyone. Laugh that we are 12-1 and going to a BCS bowl. Laugh that we are going to have another stellar recruiting year. Laugh that Bama is not going anywhere and everyone of you deep down inside knows it. yes, alatiger, laugh yourself into obscurity because that is where you are headed. truly pathetic.

Sounds like what a lot of Bama fans were doing toward us last year. The difference is that we won the BCS National Championship and the SEC Title.

What did you win?

By the way, we have the #2 recruiting class coming in. Some say it will be #1 if we get who we think we are going to get. We aren't going anywhere. And, I'm not laughing.

I figured I'd mix up a little since I've done the whole "McElroy and Jackson" thing about twenty times the last two weeks...that answer hasn't sunk in yet, so maybe Brett Favre will.

AlaTiger.

Why tell us we can't say we did better than you guys when you throw out the combined 11 game streak?
You know you're Bama's bitch and the Gerry Denardo era has returned to the Buyou under Less Smiles.

This is the way college football is now. Season accomplishments are meaningless, and the only thing that matters to people are the trophy winners. This will get to be even worse if a playoff system is implemented. Eventually the college football regular season will be like the college basketball regular season, something no one cares about. Bama had a great season, but did not finish. There is no happy way to spin it.

Whatever happens next year will not erase the bad finish by Alabama in 2008.
