Is this our best Secondary under Saban?

Off the top of my head I can only think of 2011 being comparable. Maybe 2016

Minkah, Averett, Ronnie, Humphrey, and Eddie are all still in the NFL. Half of them are pro-bowl guys. Gotta say 2016 at the moment
That being said, KoolAid and Terrion are going first round as is Downs. Moore feels like a Day 2 guy. I’d be surprised if Amos and Key weren’t drafted as well

I would agree with that but bump Moore and Key down. It depends on combine results.

I think Terrion and Kool-Aid may be our best cornerback duo under Saban. Unlike a lot of the units in the early Saban era that didn't really get tested against a bunch of pass defenses, they've played a gauntlet of great offenses and held up against all of them.
Total secondary, probably not quite. Downs is great but he's young and still growing. Malachi, Key and Amos are very solid but not sure they are quite the level of some of the guys we had in the mid 2010s.
Still, a very, very good group.

It’s impossible to beat Minkah, Marlon, and Eddie.
Eddie Jackson is so unbelievably underrated. He feels like a HoF candidate on the right NFL team.

PFF had him as a first team all american, so while what you say is thankfully true, there's also a legitimate argument that he was the best safety in the country anyway.
I don't think it's even debatable that Terrion and KAM is our best corner duo under Saban. Both 5 star players that lived up to the hype. I would've have bet all I had that Arnold would be a safety coming in because his high school film was just 10 minutes of him leveling ball carriers. He is an elite edge run defender

I mean you aren't wrong, he's been great from day 1 at most things and the few things he had to adjust to (pass coverage against elite dudes) he has. But we're comparing him to upperclassmen versions of Eddie Jackson and Landon Collins so it isn't always fair to be in a "best Alabama player" comp

Yea, great point. Not only are they elite pass defenders but they are both physical in the run game and attack the line of scrimmage. Just all time great players.

The 2011 squad with Dre Kirkpatrick, Dee Milliner, Mark Barron, and Robert Lester was pretty good. But I don't believe they faced as many prolific offenses as this years team.

That secondary would destroy you. I thought Barron was going to kill somebody sometimes.

This group
..wow. And I agree about Eddie. One of my favorite highlights is Minkah intercepting a pass in the end zone and Eddie starts pointing to the other end zone and Minkah takes it all the way. So much confidence because they were just that good

Hell, I still thought that after the first couple of games this season.

I loved watching Mark Barron. He would probably get ejected from every single game for targeting under today's rules

That defense was so fun to watch. Minkahs pick six vs Arkansas was the very definition of that secondary. He was about to knee it for the touchback and Eddie said frick that, we're taking this all the way. And they did.
Edit: just saw Ocean comment on this as well

Agree.
And Downs is the best young secondary talent since Minkah.
I also very much like the depth of this year's team. They've had some players go out, and #2s step in and play great.
This playoff setup will be interesting for the defense, particularly for the secondary. They are a very physical team in Semis, and 7 days later, they'll have to change scheme for one of two really good teams that can challenge them vertically.
It's going to be fun.
