He lied to his boss, the A.D. In college sports, not something any coach should do, especially when a scandal is being investigated.

Arkansas fans respected Petrino the coach but behind the scenes, he was a jerk to a lot of people no matter who they were.
Plenty of stories of him being an arse.
If he had the personality of Pittman or even Nutt then folks might have cut him some slack.
He pretty much did everything he could to not save his job during his investigation.
