NFL rookies have no clue how to manage money, so how would most college players know how? They're spending it on fast food and cars/jewelry, strip joints and Asian massage parlors.
dipshits.
If you've got a great college experience on scholarship, a good place to sleep, great food, great friends, a free education for every year that you simply decide to just do your job on the field, putting instant gratification over that is stupid.
If your Mom and siblings back home are starving, okay then, go grab some money and do what you think is best.
If not, if you're just being led by the nose, there's nothing like fall weather with a sweatshirt on, and flirting with girls you know or don't know yet, throughout the campus at night, and maybe deciding to marry one of them. At one school. "Finish what you started" is not for everyone, but it should be for most.

It’s not about how you spend it…it’s about getting it.

On the flip side, they’re just rich college kids. Of course they’re gonna spend money on stupid shite.
Doesn’t mean they all do, but I remember the dreams I had at 18-21 of owning a fast car, fresh clothes etc

Is that similar to conference executives making college teams and fans travel across the country to attend games?
Next year USC and UCLA will be in the same conference as Rutgers and Penn State. Why is it bad for these college guys to take the best offer but it’s ok to make them travel across the country for things like wrestling, tennis, golf and any other non profit sport?

Huh? When I was that age & in school I would have loved to make trips like that playing sports

so the exception to the rule is your guiding light?
the USC and UCLA talking point you got from the wife beater shirt punter has nothing to do with the rest of the universities in this nation

Personally i think any athlete on an NIL deal should have to take some sort of basic financial management class where they are at least made aware of money management. If they still frick it up, it's on them.

yea schools should spend less on NIL so they can be like Arkansas

Let's be completely logical.
If your kid chose to put their bank account over "a quality college life" while in college, wouldn't you approve of that?
I mean that sounds like a very adult thing to do.

NFL rookies? Hell… half the players, at least, will be damn near broke within 5 years of leaving the NFL.
This is what the courts thrust upon us. We gotta live with it now.
I still like Leach’s idea of the whole NIL thing.
“players should have a choice when entering college which is to either join as an (1) amateur or you join as a (2) professional, which he elaborated on saying: “With professionals comes responsibility,” he says. “Yeah, you will potentially make more money. But you are drafted and can be traded”

How the hell would you know? Are there a lot of NIL college players in your mobile home park?
Most college players have what are known to the rest of us as parents. They usually step in and help their kids with stuff like that.
The thought of parents that care about their kids may be a foreign concept to you. Kind of like coaches who really care about the players they coach. All you seem to worry about is other people's money and how much everybody else makes.

They are offered classes on money management. But the first class is do not give money to an agent.

Just wait until your daughter goes to high school with some teenaged kid who has $200k to spend because he can catch a ball. I’d short purity bracelets if I were you.

I am for freedom of choice. Their abilities got them the money, they can choose how to spend it as they wish. Everyone has the right to frick it up.
NIL was always going to ruin the traditions of college football. There will be movement in the free agency model called the transfer portal to increase your money and opportunity to play.
However, schools are offering bigger amounts of money to proven players to stay, so you may not see a lot of movement from starters jumping to other teams. The landscape of college football has changed forever, only time will tell if it is doomed or can sustain the college fans interest.

While this is true, college is much much more structured. Pretty much the entire day is accounted for so just by default they don’t have as much time to spend on stupid shite.
When they are rookies they are on their own, other than the football commitments/practice. That leaves them tons of time to frick up.

Should have to? You're wanting to dictate to them? So what happens when they "take the class" but don't learn it?
NFL rookies do this, and they don't learn it.
