But right now, what Kirby is doing is just insane. Saban has always dropped at least one game a year (outside of 2009 and 2020). Kirby has gone three years without dropping a regular season game (and two straight years without dropping a single game). I don't think people quite grasp how difficult that is in the SEC.

But let's not ignore the fact that all 3 of UGA's biggest rivals have been in the gutter the last 3 years, and really no east team outside of UT last year and Mizzou this year has really been worth a shite either. Their west opponents outside of AU have been Mississippi State, Arkansas, and Ole Miss. Those are the facts.

No one ignores it.
Who do you think put them in the gutter?

You don't think the rise of Bama coinciding with the worst 2 decades of Tennessee football is a coincidence?

When one team dominates, all of the rivals turn to shite.

You mean like Auburn, LSU and Tennessee?

Remind us who is really, really tough in the West again? Ole Miss?
As for last year... you mean the Tennessee team we bat and the team that beat Alabama?

And yet we beat LSU (that beat Alabama.) And Tennessee beat LSU and Alabama, so maybe the east was the stronger division last year?

Missouri is tougher than any team out of the west, and Tennessee would be considered as tough as the #3 team from the West. Those are facts.

One could argue that they also played a third shitty SEC West team in each of the preceding 2 seasons and will play one in a few weeks. That would be as inane an argument as the “they ain’t played nobody Pawl” argument made above…UGA has played everyone on their schedule plus another team from the west and 2 playoff teams and has lost once in that time. Who in the frick would they have played that would’ve been somebody, Pawl???

All arguing aside I think it's safe to say that both Kirby Smart and Nick Saban are on runs that may not be duplicated ever again.

If both teams take care of business Saturday and Georgia goes on to beat Alabama in Atlanta they'll have identical 86-10 records since the start of the 2017 season. They'll both have 3 SEC championships and 2 national championships over that time as well. Kirby would then by 2 wins away from breaking the national championship tie and the overall record tie in the playoffs as well.

The one record of Saban's that I think is safe will not be matched at least in my lifetime is the 13 consecutive 11+ win seasons Saban if Alabama manages to take care of business and beat Auburn tomorrow. Alabama was fortunate to go undefeated in the 2020 Covid season and fortunate the Big Ten shortened their season essentially denying Ohio State the opportunity to win 11+ games in 2020 essentially ending what at the time was a streak of 8 consecutive 11+ win seasons which would have reached 11 seasons if not for their shortened 2020 season.

Nebraska's 33 conswcutive 9+ win seasons and Alabama's 13 consecutive 11+ win seasons are two streaks that may never be broken again.
