Do you have any idea how much money the AD makes in the SEC's TV contracts alone?

They have $16 million. They have 10 times that amount available through various sources. Money is not the issue.

That's why this BS about some booster coming along willing to foot the bill only if we went for Gus was just that... bullshite

Someone posted a while back that the TV money has to go to the university but that the university is only allowed to contribute a max of $500K toward coaching buyouts or something like that, so it would have to mostly come from donors.

Not sure if that's exactly right but it was complicated and dumb.

They make 37 million from the sec contract and had an 8MM operating surplus last year and a 2MM loss the year before.

They had to take out a 20MM loan for operating cash flows (that may have been paid back now)

It’s also not just the 16MM which they would pay out over the remainder of the contract. It’s buying out the whole staff, raising funds for another coach and his staff, and possibly funding the buyout for the new coach if he has one.

I really think HY is trying to handle this with as much preservation of dignity for Pittman as he can...and I respect that.

I like Sam, but I don't feel sorry for him. He is going to get filthy rich for not accomplishing the job he was paid to do. He did improve things and I'm not sure there is a coach out there that can accomplish the job give the current environment in college football.

Arkansas is used to being a competitive top 20 type program, but we no longer have even top 50 money to throw at kids...and we play in the league that sets the bar for that. Its the equivalent of an NFL team trying to be competitive with a salary cap that's about 40% of all the other teams. Ain't gonna happen.
