Lots of designed runs and stepping up in the pocket was clearly a point of emphasis for the bye.

Yes. Saban said in his press conference that we did put in some more designed runs, but that the key was that we have been working with Jalen to step up in the pocket more, which has given him better run or pass options as well as relieved some pressure on the tackles who can focus on pushing pass rushers out and back.

Snopes you are correct. he stepped up in the pocket which made pass protection by the two tackles much easier. We ran the triple option a few times but most of his runs up the middle were not designed runs. He just didnt see a receiver so he looked for a lane and took off. We couldnt stop that and lsu couldnt either.

Everything I think has been stated by someone, except I think Texas beat us because they had a seasoned team and we were behind the curve a bit at the time. Most people give Cam Newton the credit for Auburn winning the championship in 2010, but when he showed up they had a good experienced team. Sometimes the make up of the entire team, both offense and defense, is under estimated. Our 1992 team was a perfect example of this. I thought Miami would blow us out. My brother, may his soul rest in peace, said to me before the game "If our quarterback has a decent game we will win." I have never seen a team that supported each other better than the 1992 Crimson Tide.
