So who do we go after now?

It looks more and more like Pittman is heading out the door. Whether it be an acrimonious firing that once again burns the fanbase to the ground or a gentle nudging that sees him becoming a glorified press agent it would take a small miracle for him to hold onto his job.
The question is... who do we go after to replace him? The Aggies appear to be willing to splash the cash to shite can Jimbo at this point and we'd be competing with them for a HC. The only difference is that they are willing to spend insane amounts of money and... yes... they are a Texas school so every HC out there is probably thinking "I could be the chosen one to turn them around."
So with A&M likely in the market for a new coach and some other jobs possibly coming open (could Harbaugh get the boot from Michigan for his latest scandal?) who out there can we get?
I am not, mind you, advocating for Pittman to stay. I love the big guy but I think he needs to be moved out the door. The problem becomes we have to have his replacement lined up and signed up before we fire him or we risk a repeat of our last few coaching searches where we watched everyone go somewhere else.

Lebby
Chadwell
Herman
Mullen
Those would be my first calls personally. I think the first three are realistic options but it would take a very large pile of money to get Mullen off the sideline.

I think the list would have to include...
Mike Elko
Lance Leipold
Jeff Traylor
Curt Cignetti (imagine WVU target)
Jon Sumrall

I dont understand why people bring him up. The guy is a lazy recruiter and that is not a good thing at the UofA.

Sucked at florida with the best talent, and he got that job because of the Dak years. I fail to see what he's done without Dak.

Leipold would be great. But he may have bigger suitors idk

Maybe Michigan State? That would be the only one I could see possibly giving him the time of day. Northwestern likely goes after Fritz, because of his experience at a more academic school. I dont think aTm actually fires Jimbo this season. State is not going to fire Arnett after just one season IMO. As much as their fans want that. Just seems illogical, and Pittman likely helped secure him a second season.
Syracuse, Indiana, and Houston arent likely looking for the same level of coach that Arkansas is. Then there is Michigan...who knows what happens there. West Virginia likely gets their guy from James Madison, pointed out in my post above.

You should change your title to realistic coaching candidates v2.0

Replace Mullen with Traylor and this is my list.

I don't know why a successful Big 12 or ACC coach would want to come into the meat grinder that is the SEC West and to a mid-to-lower tier SEC program unless they're all about the $$ and just love the transfer portal and all the bs it entails since we have a dearth of in-state talent. Why would they do that?
These suggestions of Leipold, Elko, and Klieman are understandable (and I would be thrilled with any of them) but also kind of ridiculous. What makes anyone think this could happen?

What he said... Our history the last 10 years is enough to make decent coaches consider deeply, the decision and run.
For a glass half full guy, I am also a bit realistic. Plus, with Pittman gone, how many coaches have we had in the whatever years? Dude...

Because every major conference is a meat grinder. The Big Ten is adding schools. The ACC is adding schools.
The three major leagues are going to be meat grinders. The SEC is much closer to everyone else than a lot of fans want to admit. With a half arse coaching staff, Arkansas would’ve had a chance at a West title this year. It isn’t as “meat grinder” as some of you make yourself believe.

But not every school in those meat grinders has the disadvantage of recruiting that we have, our atrocious history the past 10-12 years, and our lack of $$$ in seriousness towards FB Nil and Pay of assistants.
The majority of our Nil is going to BB, and Baseball. I will see if I can find the article. Our NIL is on point for other sports fwiw.

Leipoldand Elko will probably have better options than us. I don’t see any reason why Klieman would leave Kansas State. That just has the feel of a place he’ll stay forever.

People keep talking about our disadvantage in recruiting but we don’t recruit much differently from 7-1, top 15 ranked Ole Miss

Better question might be how much money have we paid coaches to gtfo?
What makes the HC job more desirable now than when Chaggie was fired?

Well Kiffin either preferred their job over ours because of pay, recruiting ability or both because he straight up chose them over us. Clearly they do something better than us according to the market we shop in.
