Now run those stats when Bama under Golding played offenses with a pulse. Those stats don't mean shite when good OCs regularly outclassed Golding. Denbrock, Heupel and Sark (before Ewers got hurt) schooled Golding last season.

Golding's problem was never overall stats. Most games the defense played very well. But he was always good for at least one game a year where his D would be absolutely obliterated (see: 2020 Ole Miss, 2021 Texas A&M, 2022 Tennessee, 2022 LSU, and go ahead and dump 2023 LSU in there too) and he would have no idea what to do to stop it. With Steele we have at least (so far) avoided that. We've been consistently very good. Not great, but very good. I'll take consistency over "randomly forget how to coach for a game or two" all day long.

Team Defense Stats

The ole Team Defense Stats argument. We’ve seen this argument 100s of times over the past 4-5 years. You’re obviously happy to have Pete, we can all just be happy he’s at Ole Miss and not at Alabama.
