Last 4 year stretch of futility?

When I was a student at Auburn late seventies, early eighties AU went 24-19-1 This was the last 4 year stretch of "bad" by AU standards. During that time Barfield got canned and Dye had his first year of changing the culture. How does this compare to now? From 2022 to now we are 20-22. If we somehow manage 7-6 this year it improves to 24-25. Is help truly on the way?

Worst stretch I can remember. We’ve had some awful years along the way, but we always seemed to bounce back fairly quickly.
We have really been a trainwreck lately. Hopefully we can get out of this ditch in the next year or two.

I was discussing this with friends last night. I became a fan in 82 and was a student from 93-95. There have been some awful seasons. There have been some 2 year runs that weren't good. This seems to be the worst 3 year stretch without going back and looking.

No question it is the worst 3 year stretch since the Barfield years say 1976-1978.

We used to worry about making NY6 Bowl games, now we are just hoping to become bowl eligible.
Sad times.

Without a doubt the worst in my lifetime.
The Harsin hire was a kill shot coupled with the last three year of Gus recruiting.
It’s clear- when we play teams with depth that we still aren’t even close.

It’s the worst stretch I’ve witnessed.
We can play above our heads at home but we aren’t even competitive against the top half of the league on the road.
Malzahn drove the offensive line into the ground by not recruiting anyone and Harsin continued the trend.

Without a doubt the one two punch of Gus’ last three years and Harsin have been disastrous.

This season will also tie the longest stretch without a 10 win season since the Shug - Barfield transition. 1998-2003 we had 6 such seasons in a row but at least we won the West in 2000.

This decade we’re:
6-5
6-7
5-7
3-3
Pretty terrible

The coaching carousel and the huge buyouts have probably set auburn back a minimum of 3-4 years. Along with the terrible recruiting. It's a mystery what happens to decent coaches once they get to auburn. I believe we could resurrect Vince Lombardi and he would come here and suck
