This leaves the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Florida, Texas, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma and South Carolina as the only anti-NIL states for high school athletes within SEC territory.
According to list, Georgia, Louisiana and Tennessee are the only states within the SEC boundaries that have passed law allowing NIL deals for high school athletes.
ETA: added Arkansas, Kentucky, Missouri and Oklahoma as latest list available also reflects these states as being anti-NIL for high school students. Complete List of All States and Their NIL Status

This has gotten out of hand. In what world should high school athletes be paid? Even though I don’t agree with college players being paid I can see the argument. High school no way you could justify that.

A better question is why should a high school student no longer be allowed to play high school sports if they get paid to endorse products?

Calling my local senator now and demanding a bill to allow middle schoolers to receive NIL money in Missouri. Can’t let us fall behind in this arms race

GA didn't pass any such law. The legislature isn't even in session.
The news article is about the GHSA changing its rules.

Unless changes are made, I can foresee a point at which I no longer watch college football.

I understand all this NIL stuff is rocking the boat but i do agree with you. the money is there and going to go somewhere, so why not to the kid who is busting his tail playing ball instead of some fat democrat government leech at the school

Pardon me. So sorry. In any case, it has the same effect.

I hate the direction this country is taking in many ways, and this is certainly one of them.

This is insane. Like some us tried to tell the bleeding hearts out there that wanted the players to have some "spending money", this would end up not being for the kids but being used to further the program and would be millions of dollars. Now its trickling to high schools where the richest schools in GA will also just happen to have the best players which in turn benefits the school more than the kid.
You think the kids were being taken advantage of before NIL? No, NIL is REALLY a method of using the players.

Why? Either you get your politicians on Baird like the rest, or just go ahead and request out of the SEC. We aren’t even close to seeing the end of this thing or it even slowing down anytime soon. NCAA thinks they are powerful till laws are passed and they can’t do anything about it. NCAA might as well just pack it in lose up shop. Let the “super conference” vote who they want to over see them as a whole and re name it.

This is the free market. The left hates the free market and most Republicans hate the free market. Only classical liberals and libertarians still respect it

It won't take long for people realize they're throwing good money after bad when these kids don't pan out.
