Beating OU is better than beating A&M.
Losing to A&M is worse than losing to OU.

Ok I take it back. I apologize.

This is a very good summary.

Well put.

A great comparison is Michigan. There’s a great in-state rivalry but not on the same scale as the out of state one.

I graduated from both Auburn and Texas, so I know what an intense rivalry is, and I have experienced the Texas rivalries as well. There is no comparison to AU-UAT in either Texas rivalry, but Perrilloux sums it up pretty well. A Texas Ex (we don't call them alums) is always ready to tell you that OU Sux. Aggie is more like a fiesty sibling. There is a constant flow of people attending both ATM and UT, unlike the far more rare AU-UAT grad, UAT law school aside. My wife attended both, and our daughter goes to ATM. I honestly think the ATM undergrad experience is better all around. UT is the better grad school. Academically, there is far more collaboration between the schools, all the way to the BOT level, in stark contrast to AU-UAT, where the latter has literally made serious attempts to shut down AU in the past.

I will note that the more hardcore Ags take the rivalry harder than Texas Ex's do. All that tsip, tu stuff.

Yep.

Also don't forget Texas - Arkansas. It's pretty lopsided (Texas is over .700 against Arky), but it's a major rivalry from back in the SWC days.

Arkansas probably hates Texas more than we hate them, but it's an intense game - especially in Fayetteville.
