We play a Big 12 schedule next year outside of Bama/UGA.

Now it sounds like it’s possible we won’t be keeping UGA game beyond that…

Hopefully not true. CFB will just be watered down NFL.

Been saying this for awhile now that college football could lose it's regional and current place due to expansion, NIL, and current portal rules.

I already hardly watch the NFL as it is. I would hate to lose the college experience completely.

I just saw the thread about Hugh Freeze may have let a scheduling info slip out.

Was the freeze comment today in an interview somewhere? Or was it post game?

If UGA game goes away, I expect other games go away for the sake of rotation of all teams

Awful

I assume this is in relation to Clemson begging to come into the SEC?

I know the SEC wants NC, which is a huge "meh" for me. I would like to have GT back and Miami/FSU would be ok. Not really big on Clemson, either. Absolutely nobody else in the ACC I would want, ever.

But to the point, if we got to either 18 or 20 schools, yea, we'd have to go with a 1-8 or 1-9 model (depending on how many of those beggars we let in). Bama would be the only school we'd play every season. I mean, to play GT/FSU/Miami in a rotation, I'd live with it. But F Clemson, NC, VT, and the other schools in that conference. Let 'em eat cake.

It is criminal the SEC didn't give us a game with Florida in 2024.

it all depends what SEC does, if it goes to 1-7 model we will play uga twice every 4 years. If it goes 3-6 model (going to 9 conference games) we will keep uga every year.

You know, I flat out forgot that the SEC could still go to a 1-7 model and we could lose the Georgia game without letting in any of the ACC beggars. I've been assuming a 3-6 was inevitable. So, yea, you're right. We don't have to expand beyond the (soon to be) 16 to still lose the ugly pups annually.

And with the specter of ACC schools crawling aboard, it does make sense to go with a 1-7. It will be easier to expand the schedule accommodate more teams from there. frickindamnit.

Freeze made a comment that he’s “going to miss playing UGA every year”.

That’s where my comments came from

What does 1-7 model and 3-6 model mean?

I highly doubt the SEC would allow the seperation of the oldest rivalry in the south. I mean at this point I am surpised the people are not more vocal with the negative feedback leading up to today. But they can push it until it breaks and that would spell bad news all for what? Conference realignment?

1 permanent opponent (for us, Bama) with the other 14 SEC teams rotating on/off the schedule every 2 years in groups of 7. Or, 3-6 is 3 permanent opponents (Bama, Georgia, and maybe Miss State?), with the other 12 rotating on/off every 2 years in groups of 6.

Unless we expand again, one of these will be the model going forward starting in 2025.

...and until ESPN renegotiates royalties for a 9 game schedule, we're likely to be playing 8 games. I suspect that that will eventually change to a 9 game conference schedule once the $ is worked out.

Agreed. And I don't think that will happen very soon. Disney/ESPN/ABC just went through a series of layoffs. I doubt they're in a renegotiating mood. If nothing else, it would be a bad look.

And I think the SEC will take the position that their tv partners ain't getting a free game. The fact that Nick was unhappy with Bama's 3 team draw was just the icing on the cake.

Now you guys are getting the message, I have downvoted for this before, but prefer a 10 team league and a 9 game schedule (you play everyone, every year). Next year we only play 4 of the original SEC teams. No Ole Miss, No MSU, No LSU, No Florida, No UT.

We play:
Cal
New Mexico
ULM
TBD - FCS

Bama (SEC)
Arkie (Expansion Team)
Oklahoma(Expansion Team)
TAMU (Expansion Team)
Vandy(SEC)
UGA (SEC)
Kentucky (SEC)
Mizzou (Expansion Team)

Stop watching and attending. It won't take long for things to go back to how they were and should be.
