Can anyone shed some details of this the greatest season in Ole Miss championship history?
Not too many color photos of the old squad in action because color photography had not really been put into the mainstream just yet.
But fun to look at some grainy black and whites nonetheless.
And of course a color photo of the 1963 team. Has it been this long, are these the only champions left to celebrate the last championship at the state of Mississippi’s flagship school?

We can only pray that the Runts can get one more SEC championship before the last of the 1963 squad is no longer with us.

Lawd- I did not know that the greatest Rebel of All Time - Archibald Manning- went 15-7 in the SEC during his career at the state flagship.
Dear lord Miss, what exactly did he do to be held in such high esteem amongst you all?
I mean, I guess you can retire a player’s number with a record and stats like this.

During Manning's last two seasons at the University of Mississippi, the Rebels had a record of 15–7. In his college career, he threw 4,753 yards and 31 touchdowns (despite 40 interceptions) and ran for 823 yards.[5] He scored 14 touchdowns in 1969. In both 1969 and 1970, he was named to the All-SEC team and his No. 18 jersey was retired by Ole Miss.

My apologies to you State folks if this is not the case.
The aura of heightened superiority and importance exuded by the Rebs er Bears can lead one to be confused as to their actual standing.

Archie was the QB of the SEC's 50th anniversary team.

I can see it. 15-7 and no SEC championships will do that.

Tough talk from a team who beat Arkansas by 3 and gave up 31 unanswered points to FSU.

Not to defend Ole Miss here, but didn't he have a broken arm pretty much his entire last year? And passing stats back then can't really translate to the modern game. From what I hear, he was basically that era's johnny manziel with his elusive playstyle.

No idea. Wasn’t alive to see him play.
