Can someone legit explain Perkins roughing the passer call late in ARK-LSU game?

I would really love an legit explanation on this call. I've rewatched it several times. Jefferson rolls out, Perkins pursuing him...then while Perkins is MIDAIR, Jefferson STARTS to throw the ball and gets the throw off. What exactly does the ref expect Perkins to do while in midair...somehow magically change his trajectory to not hit Jefferson???

Refs don’t like LSU. Conspiracy at highest possible levels.
I heard even the UN is involved.

I can. It was a terrible call. End of explanation.

Perkins had some questionable borderline late hits all game so Pittman was in the refs ear about it
It’s a new era of football where QBs are over protected
His hands end up hitting him “high” which is one of the indicators what look for
It’s borderline but easy to see how it was called. Defense needs to do everything they can to avoid hitting the QB.
Still a bad call, though

Simple... no ball, leave the QB alone. Don't risk it in a close game.

At least it wasn’t targeting
It looked like hand hit the helmet inadvertently which is a no go these days with qbs
Definitely wasn’t intent

But Jefferson HAD the ball, so that doesn't make sense.

Was definitely not roughing. Terrible call and this stuff has gotten out of hand to be honest.

It’s stupid but that’s the shite they call nowadays. Had one happen to us last week vs byu that was just as bad

After decades of bullshite calls against the Hogs, Marc Curles dumbass finally gave us one.
Possibly trying to make up for the LSU Arkansas debacle in 2020 where they gave LSU a fumbled ball, kicked out Catalon on a play he shouldn't have been.
He was also the moron in charge of the 2009 Arkansas Florida game ordered fix from commissoner Mike Slive.
Marc Curles is the Angel Hernandez of football refs. He has ZERO place in the game.

I'm actually shocked you're asking considering it was Curles calling it. But again, since you're an LSU fan, this might be your first encounter with Curles' dumbass.
It was a terrible call. For some reason, the SEC keeps Curles around.

Could have been a make up call when that one dude for y'all shoved KJ well after the play was over and decided to dance around after. Would have extended that drive. Awful call nonetheless.

Thread recap:
LSU complains about refs even when they win.
Arkansas still mad they suck, blaming it on the refs historically.

Mizzou fan magically appears in a thread that has nothing to do with them because they are desperate for attention.

Right elbow comes across the helmet, that's going to be roughing every time. When going for quarterback, arms need to be down to avoid this.

Perkins jumps up and hits the QB in the helmet. Even when a player accidently hits a QB in the helmet with their hand it is roughing these days.

we got called for a crucial ticky tack roughing against BYU where our players hands barely grazed the QB’s facemask so it was nice to get this one even though it could’ve gone either way especially in that situation on the road
