I support coach Pittman. He’s recruiting pretty well. I’m going to give him this season as long as they remain competitive and 3-4 games next season before I start calling for his head. The SEC West is a very difficult division to play in.

We knew after the first couple games this will be a rough season. I was impressed with the team in Death Valley. They were competitive in a rough environment against Brian Kelly and a “more talented” team on paper. Granted he did have some blonde moments that people are pissed about. I get it. That said, I’m going to show him grace and support him until it’s time not to.

I’m guessing the majority of people calling for his head have never played or coached on any level.

played and am currently a high school coach with a state championship in Louisiana under my belt. I’m not saying he should be fired tomorrow but if we go 6-6 he should be out. It’s year 4, these are his players, if we’re out talented, out coached, or out developed it all falls at his feet at this point. How many years are you okay with “well hell we were competitive!” Until you actually expect him to win? Also nobody would be pissed if he didn’t shite the bed last weekend.

Knowing that the team is bad as soon as you first watch them isn’t really an endorsement of the staff.

Considering he gave us our first 9 win season in the brutal SEC since Petrino, and back to back bowl wins, I’m going to show him some grace. Like I said, I’ll give him this season if they improve and stay competitive and 3-4 games next season.

A complete rebuild at Arkansas in the SEC every 3-4 years simply isn’t going to work. It’s the definition of insanity, trying the same thing over and over expecting a different result is the definition of insanity. The program needs stability. Not to mention we would have won the past two games if the over the top fan base who have never played or coached had not run off his coordinators.

So how many more years does he get to field a disciplined team?
Two more, three or four?

I personally apologize for calling Briles and telling him to GTFO

Odom had one of the worst defenses in the nation last year.

We will never take the next step under Pittboss

That said, we're very capable of beating any team left on our schedule and pulling off an okay season, so I do agree with this

It's not a mid season fire type situation

Y’all forgetting Briles scored 10 points against LSU at home last year after the defense played lights out?

This board never ceases to amaze.

I haven't seen anyone giving him credit for in-game coaching the o-line. That was a week long bitching session. He did, give him credit, nope, bitch about something else.

The line did play better post snap. I know last week yadda yadda yadda.

The teams Achilles heal continues to be penalties, game wining points were erased from the board due to an unnecessary holding penalty.

12 more points were left off the board by not finding the open man in the end zone on 3 different plays.

These are execution problems.

But you don't understand its emotionally cathartic to act like our coaching staff rocked last year

Briles entire offense was empty calories. Already seeing real improvement with Enos.

Because of one LSU defensive player primarily. This same players had been neutralized by LSU coaching decisions this season.

They will say he didn't have KJ for that game and that's why 10 points only, gotta love hindsight.

I mean you're right, but don't drop home games to team you should beat if you want fairness. Nobody would be complaining if not for the BYU game

Good post.

But you left out continually not being able to field a defense that adjusts or gets stops when it matters after 4 years.

The second half last night was brutal. It was big play after big play. Didn’t matter through the air or on the ground.

We haven’t had a reliable defense in 15 years except a one off year with a guy no one’s heard from again.

I remember that. Rob Smith’s first year under Bielema with mostly Petrino recruits on defense. Lol

He coached at like Missouri State or somewhere small before that.

Briles was frustrating at times yes but the defense was a real problem last year when Sam and his staff did a poor job in the portal.

Arkansas has been having problems for years trying to field good defenses.

Doesnt matter who the DC is, the problems remain the same.

Arkansas simply can't attract good enough defensive talent to come to Fayetteville.

Only a handful of teams in CFB field a reliable defense. These same teams stack defensive talent thru recruiting. Sucks that three of them are in the sec right now and two of them are in the west.

It isn't the 1980s anymore, the defense is asked to keep you in the game so the offense can win the game for you.

The offense has ample opportunity to win the game, but settles for a field goal instead in three occasions.

The defense gives you an extra possession and the offense gives the ball right back on the next play.

IIRC neither team punted in the second half. It think we can all agree LSU has better talent and depth on the their defensive side of the ball... offensive side as well...
