Milroe should not be put in a position of reading defenses in the red zone.

Milroe does fine at seeing what the guy guarding the target is doing but he has, on many occasions, failed to see other DBs baiting him into throwing to a guy that’s not really open. Should Milroe not make those throws? Of course he shouldn’t. But he is what he is at this point.

What I want to see is some creativity in the red zone. You’ve got a Uber athletic QB, use him! Pop passes, jump passes, bootlegs, etc.

Well, when we get the ball on the one, I’d really love to not see a shotgun play, especially when the QB is a tank.

That's asking too much.

In order for that to happen you have to have an uber creative OC, which we lack.

I agree with this. Basically play Tebow ball with him.

That play still makes me angry just thinking about it. When you have 1st & Goal at the one yard line, there is absolutely no reason to get cute. You line up under center and either run the QB in with a sneak or hand it off to the RB on a dive play.

Talk like this would get your arse chewed by our last two OCs.

We did have a couple of short yardage plays later in the 2nd half where we went under center. I was raising hands to heaven and saying hallelujah.

100% agree with this, but McLaughlin has to get his shite together. He's put the snaps in the ground all season and then last night he's snapping it over the QB's head. Ridiculous for a guy with that much experience.

How he played in seccg is a deep mystery

Saban hears all the calls.

And unfortunately Saban has not corrected some of the stupid calls made by his OC.

Bama should essentially be the Eagles in 1 yard to go situation.

There is no reason not to be. Granted, the Eagles have the best OL in the NFL but I would still think our line can get 1 yard when needed.

I’m not talking about just the 1 yard line. Milroe is 3/4 for 12 yards and 0 TDs and 1 INT in the red zone in 3 games. That’s ridiculous.

92% red zone efficiency this year vs 89% last year, and 85% in 2021.

It’s all a learning curve thing. The good thing is that reese is sticking to what’s working more often. If the run game is there, run it. You don’t want to get too creative in the red zone and wind up with a long field goal, or no points at all.

The 1 interception yesterday in the end zone is an example. He tried it, and we turned it over, but it was in the opponents end zone. Don’t like turnovers at all, but rather turn it over deep in their territory and learn not to try that play going forward.

I bet it doesn’t happen again.
