Watching the highlights...

Didn't get to see the game last night.
I see Thorne did a lot more running this game and did very well. Wonder how much of that we will see going forward...
Thorne looked much more accurate on passes last night too. Even the little things. On swing routes, he was putting it at the right spot so the runners can turn upfield quickly. Little things like that are actually very important.
Long balls looked good. Were there many drops? I was following the game thread a bit.. think I heard two drops early on. The pick in the endzone was deflected by Samford I think. Looked like it to me anyway.
Highlights haven't shown many rushing highlights other than Thorne's runs, other than TFLs. I take it that our RBs didn't have a great night.
Oline looked very par to below par. Heard you guys talking about the line blocks well for pass rush but not well for the run game... which it's usually the other way around...
Defense looked very good for the most part. Great to have a def backfield that can intercept footballs again. I think it's been like 20 years since we've had that.
The defense is well taught. Watch them open field tackle. Perfect textbook. Not sure if backups allowed the late TDs. But defense is certainly our strongpoint but still has lots of room for improvement. Love having good defensive backs.
Fairweather may be the first TE taken in the draft.

The real season starts this Saturday. We will see how these guys are willing to fight when lined up against relatively equal opponents. We have a long run of battles ahead of us
Hope everyone can get healthy before this Saturday and no porn films are made

To answer your questions…. We could run for shite outside of the read option / qb keeper. We got stuffed a few times on 3rd short / 4th and 1
There were 2 drops that i I recall. Thorne was very accurate only had 1 bad decision on a deep ball int into double coverage
Fairweather catches anything thrown his way
Defense was great but couldn’t get to the qb

There is this guy called Brock Bowers who will probably be a top 5 pick.

Thorne made at least two bad decisions, both of which resulted in interceptions. Trying to force a pass into the endzone cost us points. I think there were 5 defenders in that third of the endzone covering 2 receivers. It wasn't there. Throw it away and kick the field goal.
The other interception came against double coverage with a safety converging. We just needed a first down and #14 was wide open for an easy throw and catch and first down.
To his credit, he made several nice throws when he had time and was impressive running the ball.

I think I will be ready by Saturday. Feeling a little soreness in usual spots but nothing that a visit to the chiropractor can’t fix.

This was a good coaching decision by Freeze to let Thorne continue and learn and turn it into the best game of his career. If he had benched him and we limped to a 27 or 30-10 win by running around, we would all be here writing obituaries of the season. At least we have film now on to review and correct. You can’t correct mistakes until you make them and work to fix them which is better than throwing for less than 100 yards and learning nothing about your abilities.

I like Fairweather, but come on...
Brock Bowers has been the best TE in the country since he was a freshman.

I have to guess he forgot about Brock. No biggie

It was a good tune-up game. Thorne threw some pretty balls and had some wheels too. Throwing into double or triple coverage creating turnovers needs to be fixed, but it was better to happen against Samford than TAMU.
RA actually threw some nice passes with touch and accuracy. Someone has been working with him.

Watching the highlight.
Didn’t this throw hit the WR in the hands? Tipped up and got picked?
I’ve been pretty impressed with Thorne. Didn’t have much expectation coming into the season.

For the way he reacts at times after plays, I think his receivers are not running the right routes sometimes.

The way he reacted one time in the redzone let me know he thought the receiver on the bottom of the screen and on the left of the field had taken the wrong route. The receiver might have been Rivaldo.
Also along the left sideline I remember he airmailed a pass to nobody at all. Nobody even in the same zipcode. I was thinking then: this dude is in that sauce.
