tomorrow on GameDay.
For all you young puddin's, Namath famously called the shot heard 'round the world back in 1969 when, as his team, the New York Jets, were big underdogs to the Baltimore Colts and their QB, Earl Morrall (replaced by Johnny Unitas), he flat out said they were going to beat the Colts for the Super Bowl III.
Well, Namath was a prophet that day!
The New York Jets, led by Joe Namath, rocked the sports world and the country on Jan. 12, 1969, by becoming the first American Football League team to defeat an NFL team with their 16-7 Super Bowl III victory over the heavily favored Baltimore Colts at Miami's Orange Bowl.
The triumph to this day stands as a shining example of teamwork, perseverance in the face of long odds, and coming together to get the job done.
BROADWAY JOE....

He was also the 3rd straight ALABAMA QB to lead his team to a Super Bowl victory.

Joe was cool, he was living the life we young guys could only dream of.
Also, that Jets team had alot of talent, that win was no fluke.

Namath seems like a cool guy, but the only thing I ever actually saw him do was drunkenly paw at a female reporter interviewing him.

Close friend was his roomie. Lots of stories that will never be retold.

Is Suzy Kolber going to be there?

Met him and Jerry Quarry on a flight
to Miami around 1979. Both were
drinking but extremely nice to me.
I had a leg in a cast and Namath spent
a long time conversing with me about his
knee surgeries. I’ll never forget all the mini
liquor bottles on the tray. Good dude.
