Marshall signed with UGA out of high school because they offered to let him play both football *and* basketball. Marshall also competed in the track & field high school state finals in high jump in his freshman year but left track & field to concentrate on football and basketball after that. Marshall was the Georgia high school basketball player-of-the-year twice in his high school’s classification. In football he led his high school team to a state championship, set a then-record for Georgia high school career TD passes, was a high school All American, and after becoming an Auburn player led his Auburn team to a BCS National Championship Game. In two seasons at Auburn, Marshall passed for 4500+ yards, 60% completion percentage, 34 passing TDs (only 13 ints), 1800+ yds rushing, and 23 rushing TDs. Robby has played football and baseball at the college level. He was the top-tanked baseball recruit in the state of Alabama his senior year in school. In the 20 games he either started or subbed in at Oregon baseball, his stat-line was a .200 (7-for-35) batting average with a triple, double, two RBI, six runs scored and three stolen bases. He has no recorded football stats at Oregon. In 1+ seasons at Auburn he has passed for 1600+ yards, 49% completion percentage, 7 passing TDs (with 7 ints), 760+ rushing yards, and 10 rushing TDs.

All great points here… and you didn’t even include the fact that Marshall played both ways in football and has had a 9-year CFL career as a DB after spending 2-years at Auburn not even playing DB.

It might be too early to have this debate because Robby’s career is far from over, but right now I believe it’s Marshall and not particularly close.

Does Nicks mastery of wizadry count as athletic ability? Robbie is bigger, may be a little faster in a straight line and can probably throw the ball a few yards further. Everything else is in the Marshall column

Marshall had ice water in his veins.

Nick was a magician.

Should be knighted by King Charles for how he moved the 2013 offense.

Nick made a lot of D1 athletes look stupid. He was a wizard at QB, played the position like a point guard.

He was undoubtably the better QB, and arguably the better athlete, but the latter is very close and there are a few chapters left to be written in Robby's book.

Funny how someone seemed to do some tech thingy on the admin side that automatically changed "arse" as I had written it to "arse". Hhmmm... I also don't consider "dickwad" to be profane, but maybe that's just me.

Thanks Bowl. I know that and double checked my own settings JIC. They were okay.

Anyway, no biggie and I did go back and edit / change a few dirty words here and there in a few posts. No intention of pissing anyone off, just glad to be here for fun and football.

Its funny how we all can believe this but at the same time some still say he was never a QB. Those devils in the details are what make these sports boards thrive.

Robbie needs to clearly surpass JF3 and all the other hyped up flashes in the pan before we even think to compare him to one of our goats.

Damn we have gone long enough to forget how great Nick was. I am getting old.

It is Nick by a country mile.

If Robby can smoke some ganja, drive a charger, get pulled over and then come back and kick Arkansas’ arse in the second half, I will believe he’s got it.

The JJ Fan Club was skrong amongst AU fandom back in Nick’s day.

Nick Marshall holds the single game passing record in yards. And it was against Alabama. Everyone knows he could run, but his passing was much improved in 2014.

Ashford can't touch Marshall.
