Ole Miss--next season

Anyone see them being a threat to win the West next year? Or is this years team just one of their teams that is good every 4 years or so?
Like their 2003 run, this year they catch a break where Auburn, LSU, and Arkansas (3 teams normally accustomed to beating them) were completely down. They are likely losing 2-3 first round picks to the NFL. Nutt also appears not to be lighting the world on fire recruiting with them this year.
Can Nutt put together an SEC Contender?

I don't think they will win the west, I do however think they ruin it for someone with an upset win against one of Bama/Lsu/Auburn. ( I think Auburn is in better shape next yr, if they make good staff hires.)

I seriously doubt Ole Miss has 4 1st rounders. I would be shocked.

they'll probably be about the same as they are this year. i really doubt they'll win the west, whoever does that is usually an NC contender, they'll probably be a solid team though

Oher and Hardy and perhaps one other are first rounders.

Ole Piss could probably contend for the west next season.

There is no such thing as an Ole Piss SEC West Title. It's like believing in the tooth fairy.

I agree with Oher and Hardy. Jevan Snead is not a 1st round QB.

He did this year. I don't see why he doesn't again next year.

I hope Ole Miss is picked to win the West next year. Nutt will fold like a cheap suit when much is expected of his team. He does best when nothing is expected. If OM is picked one in the West, you can walk in Nutt's office in August and find him under his desk curled up in fetal position.

The West will be interesting next year. Auburn and Arkansas will be much better. Alabama won't be as good. Ole Miss will be decent again. Who the hell knows about LSU with the QB and DC situation.... I think you will have several 4-4 or 5-3 teams. No one will get to 6-2.

at what point in time was ole miss in contention to win the west this year?

Yes Ole Miss will be good next year. So will LSU and Alabama. Could be one of those years where it comes down to the last weekend to decide.
Alabama returns a lot of talent on Offense and defense. If they can get consistent(big if, ask LSU) play out of their QB then they are in it again.
LSU returns a lot of young players on defense but loses a few key players on the defensive line(Alxander and jackson). Beckwith is gone but he has never been the same since his injuries started last year. Hopefully the QB situation can't get any worse but they will be breaking in two new WR's.
Ole Miss is in the best shape of all three. They lose a couple of Oline and I would say Tillman is gone but who knows. They played well down the stretch and they will be ranked top 25 preseason next year.
All three teams will have good secondaries. Based on what I saw this year Ole miss will have the best returning, then Alabama(very close). LSU's can only get better. They showed signs of being good but just didn't play with consistency but they are very young.

At the point where they were on the Bama 40 in the last minute of the Bama game, driving down the field. An Ole Miss win there and another Bama loss. Which probably would have happened at LSU if they had lost to Ole Miss. I think that if you are two plays away from an SEC West championship that you should probably be considered a contender.
