It’s gonna happen in the next 5 years or so…. It’s fun to talk about. I’ll start with Dabo or Lane. Those are my choices…..

Mike Dubose is only 70.

Freeze about to put him out to pasture. It's an AU tradition.

True…lol. Man, we’ve come a long way from that fiasco.

It’ll be Dabo especially if Clemson stays at a relevant but non-championship level.

An under the radar name to watch is Glenn Schuman, his story and career arc are nearly identical to Kirby's, only with bama as the focal point instead of UGA
I woudl lolve for dabo to go there. He has shown constantly over the course of his 15 year career that without an elite, "generational", overall #1 pick at QB, his teams aren't much to write home about. Especially considering the extremely weak compeition he faces yearly.

I hate that he beat us twice in the same year but it's also funny that he's won something more recently than Tennessee.

I forgot about Schuman. Good take!

I think they will go with a former Saban Assistant Coach. I’m not sure if they lure or even go after Sark or Smart. Cristobal was high on the list at one time. Kiffen would probably be considered. I wouldn’t be surprised if it ended up Jeremy Pruitt.

Schuman with his ties to Bama could easily be the pick and would be a solid hire.
Does Bama take a chance on a def coord, Kirby worked out fine for UGA and it would be a similar path with a long track record as def coord at UGA if that's where he stays so I think lack of head coaching experience could be thrown out the window.
Also depends on how long Saban stays because he will be a hot commodity as a head coach somewhere else.
If rumors were true that he was on short list last year for Bama DC maybe Saban brings him on board in a coach in waiting type scenario.

Whoever it is will be fired after 3 years.

Probably your DC from the previous year. Seriously.
There will be a strong push for keeping some continuity with the Saban regime, since he's been the best in NCAA history. And going with a DC instead of OC means you're not married to one offensive scheme or philosophy.
Outside names will not be considered unless they're already elite, and nobody is going to leave a good spot to follow Nick. 10-2 will be unacceptable; look at what Nebraska did following Osbourne.
And Saban will pull a Brady and unretire, if he thinks it will be Kiffin
Which I understand, because Lane would break that program with stupid shite in under 5 yrs.

Nick Saban loves the Right Reverend so much he tried to convince Bertman to hire him as his replacement at LSU.

As long as it isn't Brian Kelly, I'll live.
