The ignorance in this thread is truly amazing. Acceptance rate is just a percentage of those that apply to those that are admitted. Each school only has so many slots for incoming students. Most high school grads will apply to multiple universities knowing that they may not get accepted by all of them. Some get accepted by all that they apply to. Then they have a decision to make. Others may only get accepted at one school and only have one choice where they are going to go.

Trying to make an argument as to how good or bad a university is based on its acceptance is pretty f'ing stupid.

These are public state schools in rural states (other than Vandy, obviously). They should have high acceptance rates.

Actually the tougher acceptance rate schools are also the most woke schools, who bow down to rich white people and then affirmative action

I think those were Fall 2021 acceptance rates. Tennessee's Fall 2023 rate has dropped significantly (according to this article).

It is showing for Fall 2023, in-state acceptance has dropped to 59.4%, and out-of-state has dropped to 33.3%. The same report showed Fall 2022 at 71.2% in and 67.2% out and the overall Fall 2022 acceptance rate was 68.4%.

Acceptance rate plummets by nearly 30% in most competitive year in UT history

Why does it matter that a school has a wide open front door and a narrower exit?

If a school only takes high achievers and passes those high achievers how does one measure the quality of the education? Those kids would done the same almost anywhere.

Everything is a dick measuring contest on here.
