The better play?

The play by Morgan on the safety squeeze by wake or catch by Pearson off the bullet hit by Langford?
I'd go with the play by Morgan though both were clutch as hell.

Play by Morgan and it’s not close. That takes nothing away from Pearson’s catch. It was absolute nails.
But that Morgan play was unreal.

I’ll tell you this.
The Pearson catch was better than the Robertson catch.

If Pearson doesn't make that catch, the game is over and Florida is up 1-0. If Morgan doesn't make that play they still have 2 innings of bats and maybe the approach things differently while trailing.
The stakes are different and obviously elevated for the Pearson play, but I think the Morgan play was more improbable and a better play overall

It took a few things to go right on the Morgan play. He had to field it on the run, flip it to Milazzo at the right spot, and Milazzo had to make the tag. Degree of difficulty was higher.
I think the Pearson catch being a potential winning hit elevates its importance.

The Morgan play due to rarity. That play was absolute textbook. When you talk about that scenario; Tre’s replay should be the first thing they show. Pearson’s catch was just as clutch but a much more common scenario.

Pearson's catch reminded me, a couple games ago they talked about LSU's defensive alignments and how they're SO spot-on. 112mph off the bat, that was a screaming liner, and you have very little time to move. He barely got to it, and if I recall correctly, the announcers earlier were whining about how deep LSU's outfield was a few innings prior.
They are exactly where they need to be on each hit ball, as long as there's good contact. A blooper off the hands or end of the bat, yeah, that gets iffy. But they are in place for well-hit balls.
You see this in the infield, too. How many plays has Thompson made at 2nd? A bunch, it seems. Why is that relevant? Because he's LSU's SHORTSTOP, not second baseman. But they swap positions when they think the ball is going to the right side. And it's not a shift, it's almost always a straight swap- Dugas to short, Thompson to 2nd.
That's why the bloop double happened, because they expected a pulled hit, and Thompson was at second, and Dugas couldn't field in short left. If he made better contact, he's out, likely on a grounder to 2nd.

I will also tell you that you are wrong!
Both were remarkable catches …both caught well hit balls …difference is that LSU was in better position so the LF had less ground to cover - the Gator CF had to run 40ft or so
But all that go to say…the play at the plate was insane clutch

Morgan's play was more impressive.

Anyone who’s played baseball at a decently high level knows the play at the plate is more impressive than the outfield catch. I say that as a former CF.

Pearson catch was incredible but the Morgan play will go down as an ALL TIME play in LSU lore.

Tre could make that catch in left. Not many people are making that play from first… winner: Tre Morgan.
