Had some free time this weekend so went back and watched both games. Man that was fun. After the Rose Bowl, I felt that was maybe the greatest game UGA had ever played and would be nearly impossible to top. Here we are 5 years later and there's another game that can make a case.

The Similarities:
-Both were in the first round of the playoffs for a chance to go to the national championship
-Both were against storied blue blood programs
-Both were against ELITE offenses that were expected (and did..) to challenge our defense like nobody else had all year
-Both opponents were led by a Heisman trophy finalist QB
-Both came down to the end and were not decided until the final play
-Both saw UGA down by double digits in the second half. UGA was down by at least 7 in both 4th quarters
-Both relied on the opponent missing a FG late in the game
-Both saw UGA drive down the field and score a TD with less than 4 minutes in the 4th quarter to either tie or take the lead

The Rose Bowl is a more iconic setting, and obviously went to 2 OTs which the peach bowl did not. I think the Rose Bowl still probably gets the nod based on those things, in addition to it beign a walkoff because of somethign we did (rather than osu missing) and it being so new. We hadn't achieved that high in ages. Still though, how awesome that we got another all-time classic in such a short amoutn of time.

Tough choice. Rose Bowl was the genesis of what was to come with Kirby, but hard to not factor the championship game results in with these two. The OSU kick lining up perfectly with the new year adds a magical aspect to that game for me, so I will go with it.

I’ve got to go with the Rose Bowl. Blocking that FG and then Sony’s TD run were fantastic

I would say Rose Bowl as well, winning that game the moment in Kirby's tenure that this team took the next step.

Rose Bowl

After watching the Peach bowl a few times. That game was shaped by the refusal to call holding.

All of the long OSU scrambles for big plays and TDs had multiple holds.

Holding calls benefited the team with best QB

We won the Rose Bowl. We didn’t lose the Peach Bowl

Did OSU get lucky earlier in the game when the SEC Special Teams POY missed two field goals?

Rose Bowl

It was the moment Kirby and the Dawgs staked their flag in the national convo, and it went down at the Granddaddy of them all against a Heisman from OU. Only ding against it is we didn't finish the deal in the NCG.

The Peach Bowl is an all-timer, but it felt less magical since we were the big bad/favored team, and had to hold on/fight till the end. The Rose Bowl was us exceeding expectations since the general consensus at the time was OU was ahead of us

I think my opinion on this one has changed like three different times. The Rose Bowl was, to that point, the greatest UGA game of my life and the feeling when Lorenzo blocked that field goal was incredible. One of those moments I wish I could bottle.

But then the Peach Bowl this year….man…coming back from down 14 in the 4th, the heartbreak at letting Stroud bring them back down the field and then the exhilaration when they missed the FG. Add in that it was at the stroke of midnight on New Year’s and it directly led to a natty….

You know what, screw this. Y’all can have that argument. I love them both equally

Posted this in the other thread, but it's fun to look at the different win probability charts.

According to those, the Ohio State game was the most improbable comeback.

Oklahoma

Ohio State

Rose Bowl was the most elated I’ve ever been after a win.

The Rose Bowl was the best Georgia game I've ever seen. That was the best team Lincoln Riley has ever had at either Oklahoma or USC.

agree, I think they would've smoked bama too if they'd played. OU didn't have a very good defense but bama didn't have a very good offense either. Hurts was atrociously bad which looked even worse due to how great our defense was. Saban had no choice but to pull him considering they scored ZERO [points int he first half. If they played OU they probably score a couple TDs so at that point you've gotta think hurts stays in longer. On the flip side, OU would have had FAR more success on offense than we did. That offense was crazy good.

I just really enjoyed watching Mayfields smug arse crying after as many have said the rose bowl was what was to come from Kirby . As stressful as the peach bowl was to come I have hated Ohio st and most Ohio fanbases college and NFL a lot (screw the Browns) for years now I enjoyed Ryan Day Whining the days after the game. So I have to say OSU
