They have everyone returning next year so they will probably have a 4 peat going coming into the SEC and 3 peat in gymnastics
Who can compete with them in the SEC?

SEC is good in every sport. OU is on a hell of a run in softball and gym tho.

Maybe competition from tougher SEC opponents and more loses than normal will create a different mindset for OU players as opposed to the constant winning in Big 12 yr in yr out against inferior competition. OU only has to face really tough opposition in playoffs as opposed to all yr long in tougher conference but we shall see.

I mean, I keep up with all NCAA sports, I’d rather watch women’s softball than soccer.
I appreciate absolute dominance in any college competition. OU softball is on another level from any sports program on any level right now. That’s not something I think the SEC will be embarrassed by.

???
OU makes net money on softball. So do other top softball teams. They get higher ratings than college baseball too.
Just more sour grapes

Did you know softball gets more viewers than baseball? So someone cares. You just don’t care because you can’t compete. But a ton of people do care and it reflects in ratings.

LOL
OU was 9-0 vs SEC this year. OU beat all of the top 10 teams this year. OU only had 19 home games out of 62 games, and travelled all over the country to take on all comers.
You really have no clue what you are talking about. They had the hardest SOS of any team in the country and by far too.

Things can turn so quickly in any sport. Alabama and Florida were dominating softball for much of the 2010s. It looked like the SEC would rule the sport moving forward. Same with gymnastics with Alabama and Georgia.
I just tend to think that neither Oklahoma program is going to just run completely over the conference. The SEC may have taken a step back in softball but it’s still as deep a league as any. SEC Gymnastics has remained a dominant force nationally, just the programs at the top have changed.

Wow, an educated reply. Well stated. Things always go in cycles. Key pitcher injuries can cost a title run. New players just don’t pan out happens. Asistant coaches leave. Many things can change a team. Plus other teams get better as the sport grows there are more good coaches to go around.
We also have to remember this 61-1 is an all time win record and is rare to accomplish. They will have losses in future years and in SEC. It will raise SEC softball up along with Tx has a good softball program too. The conf games will be great and OU won’t win like this year.
But Patty has a great program which she has been there 28 years. All this success didn’t happen overnight. When she took over OU they didn’t even have a ballpark, the team played at a local park. Then they built one. And now are building another state of the art new one. All that while Patty has coached. She is the difference maker. But it started pretty much from scratch, and its why I admire her.

The ole Tougher Competition Angle. Last season, three of the Final Four softball teams came from the Big XII.
This season, practically the entire SEC made the field of 64. Two advanced to the next level. One promptly was eliminated. OU run ruled the SEC champ out of the tournament.
OU had 10 wins and 0 losses against SEC teams this season.
But yeah, there are SEC teams that will give OU plenty of trouble in both sports. But to say that the Pac XII, Big XII, B1G, and ACC is inferior to the SEC is dead wrong.
