Can they win a title? Absolutely. Still one of the handful of teams that has a roster that can do it. But there's more to fix here than just replacing players lost to the draft. And that's different.

some bama fans will admit it, many others won't, but losing kirby/cochran did far more damage to their program than I think they want to come to grips with. Their defenses, their defensive recruiting, and their overall attitude as a program has not been the same the last 5 years as it was the first 10.

You're right, but who was the defensive coordinator for Bama from 2018-2022? That would be Pete Golding. Kirby left in 2015 and then Pruitt was right after him. Our defense was fine in 2015-2017. So it looks like we got rid of our "problem". My main issue with our program over the last 5 or so years has been our player's stupidity with 15 yard penalties time and time again. I feel like our players have gotten dumber

Our defense got better when Kirby left. Not that he wasn't excellent with us - he was - but losing him didn't cause us to miss a beat. With Cochran, on the other hand, I do believe you have a point. Our program overall has been less disciplined since he left, and I can see how the S&C coach plays a major part in instilling buy-in and discipline in players. Certainly I think he did when he was here, and I think we miss that now that he's gone.

Pruitt had equal if not statistically superior defenses to what Smart had at Alabama. The decline hit when Golding took over.

Alabama has been the top recruiting school in the country over the last 5 years so this isn’t statistically true.

UGA can be ultra elite without it having anything to do with Bama being ultra elite or slightly down.

Bama did a horrific job recruiting and developing OL and DL for about 2-3 years and it’s only now returning to elite status. When you can’t run power or affect the QB without blitzing it changes every facet of your gameplan.

None of that has anything to do with UGA, Kirby Smart or anyone else other than as a comparison to where Bama is relative to their past benchmarks.
