And maybe more importantly, everyone will be emotional about those poor Nashville kids and teachers...

They had a hard fought 5-0 win last night against UNC Asheville...probably a CWS contender...very impressive.
Expect the VOLLLLLS to be sharp and ready to go

That’s cute. Best of luck to you this weekend. May the best team win. Hope for safe travels for anyone traveling to BR this weekend.

Only things missing are Jr and Lulu. But, hard to pin them down to just one emotion.

At the risk of virtue signaling...point taken. Certainly a tragedy that transcends sports as far as importance.
However, this is a sports message board and the series is not being cancelled, so Tennessee is TIGER BAIT

This is good. But elendfreude is not a freude that I’m familiar with- can someone define?

Found this - also the original source of the picture. (not my doing, unfortunately) Scroll down about 2/3 of the page to see the definition of Eldenfreude, also quoted below. Original Source

Elendfreude
A novel emotion, but a real one I think needs to be added to the lexicon. Elendfreude is a completely made-up German word meaning “misery-joy,” and it is the best way to come close to the feeling of seeing something awful happen to yourself, yet feeling a perverse joy in it.
Example one: Your team leads with a 1:26 left and has the other team at fourth-and-14 around midfield. The other team somehow throws for a game-tying TD on that fourth-and-14 and wins.
Example two: Any time on the internet when someone says “lol” accompanying an announcement of devastating personal news, like “Got cancer, this absolutely owns lol.”
So a baseball example - hopefully replicated this weekend - would be Daniel Cabrera's walk-off 3-run homer in the bottom of the 9th to seal an LSU sweep over Tennessee in 2018. Tennessee led 7-3 going into the bottom half of the inning, and Cabrera's HR was the final act of inflicting Elendfreude upon the Volunteers.
My take is that they're kinda used to it now.

YES. Ole Miss fan could feel nothing but elendfreude watching that debacle happen in front of their eyes - how else would you process that?
I remember watching that and laughing like a loon. Always enjoy seeing Ole Miss take an L, especially in a history-making, SportsCenter Top-10 way.

Gotcha, that’s perfect.
