They help put the gameplan together. It is a collaboration. See Monkens compliments to Bobo and Faulkner during the playoff.

But ultimately, it will be Bobo firming up the plan. I wonder if smart will be as hands off Bobo as he was with monken.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Bobo is actually the oc and not just a placeholder, right?

Dickey won the conference four times while at North Texas. After coaching nine seasons, finished with a 42-64 record. Pretty weird.

Outside of a couple of years at Memphis, offenses he's been associated with since 2009 have stunk.

That said, he's not gonna be calling plays or even have a title that makes him look like he's calling plays.

right. They may provide some insight but it's 100% bobo's offense. Just becuase these guys sucked chode at being OCs doens't mean they don't know anything about football, getting these gusy to simply help out is a major win.

You think Bobo will run a conservative offense?

I think inept is the word you're looking for...

Funny how his offenses at UGA were prolific but he goes to Auburn and Carolina and they suck. World beaters as we all know them to be, couldn’t have possibly been Carolina or Auburn doomed to fail regardless of who was calling plays.

Is there any particular reason for these hires?

It’s not the primary reason but worth noting that Dylan Raiola said recently that he has an existing relationship with both Streeter and Dickey from when they recruited him at A&M and Clemson

Bc that’s what he ran at Memphis and he’s been around for like 20 years coaching in Texas, or so it feels.

Ah! Gotcha. In that case I'll just say this. He will be an analyst, and not calling our plays. As an analyst he will be watching film and charting tendencies by the defense. What they tend to do on certain downs and situations. That will assist in building game plans by the coordinator.

Do you know the difference between a coordinator and an analyst?

I kind of didn’t understand the Dickey hire, hence, I found it interesting. Like, what’s he adding to the room? Obviously, analysts do quite a bit since several got promoted this year.

If you are asking if Bobo is the offensive coordinator and not an interim, you are correct. He is the coordinator.

I am not Koreandog, but I understand the confusion. But, remember. An analyst is not the same as a coordinator.

Just because a coach may not be good as a head coach does not mean he would not be good as a coordinator. Just because one may not be suited as a coordinator does not mean he is not suited for an analyst. And so on. If he understands football at all, he can chart plays and tendencies.
And, if a team comes along in a year or so, and needs a position coach, or coordinator they might want to take a chance on him.

Maybe Kirby just wanted Jimbo and Dabo’s playbooks ahead of the 2024 season. Spygate!

Very similar feeling to Saban hiring Rees (BK’s personal protégé) to beat Brian Kelly vibes.

He may be charting the opposing offenses as well.

Offensive analysts may be better at charting opponent's offensive keys and reads to permit our DC an opportunity to create confusion and slower decision making.

Funny that maybe defenses have evolved/adapted in the last 10 years...

That should concern you more than me.

I mean, since he will have little to do with how the offense is run.
