Super Bowl make anyone else miss former Bama players?

Watching the Super Bowl last night I kept thinking to myself how much I miss selfless players like Devonta Smith and Jalen Hurts.. Now that we have entered the NIL and transfer portal era of college football the players are all about themselves. There is not a player in Alabama history who defines team player more than Jalen Hurts. It's crazy to think that a player who left the program is still regarded to many Tide fans as their all time favorite player, as well as one of coach Saban's favorite players he has ever coached. Devonta was also another player who let his actions and play on the field speak for itself. There is no denying they are incredible athletes, but more importantly and why I miss them most is they are better people than athletes. We need more role models like them our youth can look up to

This is my concern for us next season. If somehow we can turn those guys into road-graders, we will be ok

Easy to miss players of that caliber. NIL changes things, but there will always be people out there with integrity.
Also, you can't knock kids doing what's best for them personally and financially. Sometimes, that means them not playing for our team of choice. Doesn't mean all of them are selfish, or bad people or have bad attitudes. They need to follow the opportunity that sets them up for the most success. We would all do that and would advise our children to do that... and as far as we know, coach Saban is giving them the advice to move on.

No. I am glad all that worthless dead weight is gone.
Except for Hurts, Landon Dickerson, Jobe, The Slim Reaper(R), Derek Henry, Minkah Fitzpatrick... Oh... heck. I guess I miss the whole 76 guys currently on NFL rosters. They all our boys.

So a kid trying to cash in on super rare talent with a short shelf life somehow lacks integrity?
College football has become a business. And who made it that way? You did with your overzealous fandom.
Kids weren’t any less selfish before. They just didn’t have the opportunities that are present now. Everyone likes money, and people are only as loyal as their options.
The fat, ugly, poor husband is less inclined to cheat than the rich, handsome, famous husband not because he’s more loyal but because he has fewer options.
Major Ogilvie didn’t have NIL options.

Always found it hilarious fans who are only all about themselves get mad when the athlete does the same.
The reality is you don't care about these kids unless they're producing wins and championships but you're made they're developing the same attitude.

Let me ask this question: Would y’all rather win the national title with Johnny Fivestar as a true freshman from California playing QB and making seven figures in NIL money…. or go 10-2 with a Tuscaloosa kid who’s living in a dorm, been in the program four years, and grew up with Bear Bryant posters all over his wall?
I suspect the former. Fans are loyal to the program, not the players or coaches. And coaches are loyal to money and winning. So why the frick should players be loyal to fans, the program, or coaches? No one really gives a frick about them beyond their ability to produce on the field.

College football is filled with dirt bags like you who have no morals or integrity. If you have a daughter let her know she can make a lot more money at the local strip joint than whatever first job she decides to take since you love to cash in.
College football yes is a business but not on my behalf. I don't care how good a player is I would not donate a dollar to get him to come to my school even if it guarantees national championships. In case you didn't know players come and go and there is plenty of great players out there who value a coaching staff and not just money.
If a kid doesn't have someone with his best interests at heart with some integrity, that short term cash in can mess with a possible long term cash in.. People like you say go to the school A who is offering you a couple more thousand than school B. They listen to someone like you who values money over integrity and take a little more upfront. Not taking into account school B is better at developing NFL talent so you would of had a better chance to make more money long term by going to school B.

Either way, it’s ultimately about money, isn’t it?
