I don’t have to read the article to tell you that the answer is no.

Seems like a light estimate to think only 2 things are holding us back.

“Elite” status? I’d take “slightly above average” at this point.

1. We’re in the wrong conference.

I thought this was about basketball when I initially read the OP. Laughed out loud when I realized it as football.

Unfortunately this is where we’ve always been in football, except the 60’s.

It would take a huge domino with all the breaks going our way to win it all and it would be for one year. But it would be cool…….

Arkansas doesn't have any expectations and goals that they could set for themselves.

Unless Arkansas figures that out then it matters not the conference.

What hurts Arkansas is a lack instate rival that could push the program to maximum potential.

But Arkansas is content with what they are which no one knows what that is.

I think we’re in a considerably worse position than we were just 10 years ago. We have a third tier program and we compete in a first tier league.

Arkansas could join the Big 12 but a national audience had already seen how the SEC did to the Big 12.

So just think Arkansas lost 65-7 instead of TCU in the most lopsided national championship game in the modern era.

Hog fans would melt and demand that Arkansas join the SEC because we are so tired of getting whipped in the playoffs.

Oklahoma goes 0-4 in the playoffs, what do they do? Join the SEC because if they can beat SEC teams in the regular season then that would make the playoffs that much easier. Texas is doing the same if you can't beat them then join them.

Arkansas? Nah we at Arkansas are gonna win it for the first playoff appearance since we joined the Big 12 20 years ago. Final score Alabama 45 Arkansas 10. We will get them next year! You heard us! Get ready!

You see what the problem is here? Oklahoma and Texas have expectations because they feel are slipping in an inferior conference that is making them worse. So instead of running from the SEC, they are joining the SEC to stay relevant.

Arkansas joining the Big 12? If Arkansas doesn't set any expectations for themselves then they might as well do so.

This is the correct answer. If Arkansas cared about football then they wouldn't be as bad as they have been since joining the SEC.

Arkansas is very good at making excuses and if they got paid for every excuse they made then they would have more money than all SEC schools combined.
