In the post-Houston Nutt era. We may have had some bad seasons in that time but we’ve quietly become one of the more consistent bowl winners during that time too. I’ll take that to end the season every time.

Most fans will be pleased with 7-8 wins a year.

Arkansas hasn't been vested in winning football since Bobby got his arse beat.

Let's extend Pittman for 5 years after that incredible win.

That’s actually already happened, his contract ran through 2026 and the win last night added a year to it.

Our program’s losing record in bowl games has always bothered me. Glad to see us start to claw our way back.

Nutt was a craptacular bowl coach unless he was playing Texas and put forth minimal effort. We sleep walked through quite a few bowl games we should have easily won with him as coach.

I could deal with 8 wins with the every 3-4 years 10-12 wins as long as we don’t blow big arse leads and have collapsing 2nd halves. And win games that we should and a few that we shouldn’t.

But everything about this season? Pass.

Liberty? Ole Miss Collapse? Mizzou? Kansas? A&M collapse? Missouri State BS?
Pass on all that.

17-24-3 overall now. The one that sticks with me is that Drew Morgan fumble induced loss to Virginia Tech. We would be 7-1 since Nutt and 18-23 overall without that one on the books.

Wait Drew Morgan fumbling caused us to blow a 28-0 halftime lead?

It was 24–0. From what I remember, I think we had a fumble call overturned and that somehow cascaded into surrendering 35 unanswered points in the second half. Between Hatfield and Nutt, our bowl record really took a beating. Those two coaches were a combined 3–10. 3–11 when you consider that Nutt was 100% going to lose that Cotton Bowl against Missouri right after he "quit."

Arkansas played a lot of tough opponents in the bowls.

Bowls under Hatfield.

1984 Liberty Bowl against number 16 Auburn and Bo Jackson. Lost 21-15.

1985 Holiday Bowl against unranked Arizona State. Won 18-17.

1986 Orange Bowl against number 3 Oklahoma. Lost 42-8.

1987 Liberty Bowl against Number 15 Georgia. Lost 20-17.

1988 Cotton Bowl against number 9 UCLA and Troy Aikman. Lost 17-3.

1989 Cotton Bowl against number 8 Tennessee. Lost 31-27.

Here are the Bowls post Nutt.

2009 Liberty Bowl against unranked East Carolina. Won 20-17 in OT.

2010 Sugar Bowl against number 6 Ohio State. Lost 31-26.

2011 Cotton Bowl against number 11 Kansas State. Won 29-16.

2014 Texas Bowl against unranked Texas. Won 31-7.

2015 Liberty Bowl against unranked Kansas State. Won 45-23.

2016 Belk Bowl against number 22 Virginia Tech. Lost 35-24.

2021 Outback Bowl against unranked Penn State. Won 24-10.

2022 Liberty Bowl against unranked Kansas. Won 55-53 in 3rd OT.

We were #9 when we played #3 Oklahoma. We were #8 when we played #9 UCLA. We were #10 when we played #8 Tennessee. We were about evenly matched in half of Hatfield's losses. He just kept coming up on the wrong side for some reason.

Hatfield was 2–1 in bowls at Clemson. He defeated #16 Illinois while ranked #14, lost to #14 California when ranked #13, and beat unranked Kentucky while #23.

When you win at a high level like Hatfield did then you will face opponents the same or better than you are. I cut him some slack as he didn't face Minnesota type programs.

Nutt had worse bowl losses and didn't care much for them as we all know why. UNLV and Minnesota were I don't care and I don't want to be here bowls.

However that started changing with Petrino. Bert did a fair job in his bowl prep except his last bowl.

Sam in these last two bowls has done a good job prepping for them.

For real, we could always be Mizzou and not win a bowl game for a decade and counting.

Kinda hard to dunk on Mizzou when they beat us every year. Bowl games are a joke now, look at how many guys just don’t even want to participate. Most of them have no chance of being drafted, they just don’t care.
