Walt Disney’s Bob Iger reprized his role as the company’s CEO in late November ‘to make big changes’ including parting ways with ESPN and ABC, Wells Fargo analysts predicted in a company note on Dec 20.

I wonder if allowing ESPN to go off on it's on will result in it being more about sports and less woke or is that crap so entrenched that it just won't go away. Without being dependent on Disney's money I'm hoping they will do better but I'm not holding my breath.

I'm not sure they actually plan to — this just looks like a financial prediction.

Not only that.. but one by Wells Fargo.. who doesn't exactly have a sterling reputation for not being fraudulent.

This might come as a shock to every whiny old bitch complaining about "wokeness". There's only so many advertising dollars you can dig up for MyPillow and Tiki torches. The prime demographics are younger which are overwhelmingly not as racist as the white haired fixed income crowd who wants to keep government out of their medicare.

When a company embraces a viewpoint it's because they believe that's where the money is.

This...

It's not ESPN or Hulu that's the problem, these are diversified programing and a diversified audience that can support different materials. They need to drop Woke and focus on developing good products. So more sports and only sports, Live TV and broadcast television and anything disney over to Disney+, the parks make hundreds of Millions and were still in the black even during COVID.

I’m young and almost everyone I know hates most ESPN content.

Sports podcasts wouldn’t be so popular if ESPN was pulling in the young adult crowd.

Musk needs to buy ESPN and just make it about sports again.

1. frick you.

2. Woke is show after show after show of my two moms, cutting edge trans characters, endless aphabet people bullshite, endless propaganda for the new civic religion. It's not about racism, it's about the dumb new sexual ethics that's being force fed on consumers by the cultural powers. Newsflash: we don't want it. Shove it up your arse with all the other shite you shove up your arse.

Top executives need those fat bonuses for doing what make them money, not enhances the longterm outlook for a company

I really think there's a big difference between wokesters on social media (who seem to have a disproportionate effect on companies) and people who watch sports, have money, and buy things. Some companies are figuring this out.

What i read last year is the opposite- ESPN is so far upside down with the contracts they've signed with multiple leagues that Disney support would be the only thing keeping it afloat.

Without Disney, they are a bankrupt standalone.

That's just what I read last year, or earlier this year. I didn't bookmark the link unfortunately.

It damn sure can't hurt! It's easily the worst put-together production with the worst secondary broadcasting crews on TV, and it ain't close!

They would probably be bought by some other big company, hopefully one that's interested in sports without politics.
