AU fans, did y’all entertain hiring Coach Prime?

He is a program marketing machine with a great story and huge brand with ATL ties that would have killed in recruiting your footprint not to mention a pain to UGA.

It didn’t sound like the administration ever entertained it, but for the fanbase he was one of the top names that people wanted

He became a fan favorite for all the reasons you mentioned. He would have been a splash hire, generate tons of attention. Probably would pull even more top talent than he will at CU.

Between the NIL and location of Auburn in a recruiting hot bed, Deion Sanders would’ve recruited like crazy here.
Colorado, as I understand it, doesn’t even have the funds to pay him right now. They’ll have to rely on incoming revenue to pay on a year basis and I’m not sure how there NIL is doing, if it even currently exists.

I don't think the kind of kids who are attracted to someone who calls themselves "Prime" are going to be the kind of team players top teams need.
Always exceptions, but I doubt anyone is going to get too worried about him.

In three years, not hiring Prime will turn out to be the best move Auburn and any school not named Colorado made.

I agree for the most part and glad with the hire we made.
He’s intriguing just the same and I’m watching what he does with great interest.

You make some good points but he did get his team at JSU to gel, but you could see what you’re talking about in their top players.

Thanks man. Honestly, when he went to Colorado, I saw this more clearly. The next question I wonder (just haven’t watched him coach much), is can he coach / hire / have the connections to good coordinators. He did well at Jstate.

I'm very curious to see how it plays out. I'm generally not too high on guys that have never even been coordinators before. The last time I heard of a great recruiter/motivator that's never even been a coordinator that didn't want their players to have earrings and stuff like that was Coach O at Ole Miss. And we know how that played out.
But Colorado can't really do much worse than it did this year. At the very least they're going to have more talent and recognition there than they've had in a long time so it's the kind of hire they needed to make to at least get some attention their way if they have any hope to get back to national prominence. They never had a shot of getting any proven candidate there anyway. If he can get blue chips to Jackson St he can definitely get guys there in Boulder who hasn't had a blue chip on campus in years. And you never know, it could work out spectacularly and they become Carroll USC or something, just a lot of unknown around it which makes it so intriguing.
I don't think Auburn needed to hire an unproven guy like that so I can't really blame them too much. But if Prime does get CU rolling yeah it may be hard for Auburn to look back on and wonder what could have been especially if Freeze turns out to be a letdown.

Happy about #1. That was what we were all hoping for, our offer getting/keeping him.
About #2, love him. Not totally sure honestly…he isn’t going anywhere whereas Lane of course might, but OM would be crucified like y’all have been. I think both will win.

Prime’s entourage didn’t handle the Auburn inquiries professionally so Auburn backed off. Freeze is a perfect fit at AU and Prime can’t help but improve a 1-11 CU team. Everybody ended up with better coaches compared to what they previously had on staff.
