From Ivan Maisel on Urban Meyer...

It's been four days. I've moved past my gut reaction. I have enough distance to make a calm judgment. And I still think Florida coach Urban Meyer strayed way off base by calling those two timeouts in the final minute of the 49-10 rout of Georgia. The Gators said all they needed to say on the scoreboard. Meyer's choice revealed more about him than it did anyone else, none of it good.
I have to agree. For all the crap that UF and Meyer talked about how classless the TD dance UGA did, he acted like a 5 year old.
If you're really SO much classier...take the high road man.

I agree with Maisel. I can't believe he acted so petty.
Spurrier acted like an arse at times but he was likable at times too. Meyer is a dipshit 24/7.

Yeah, the funny thing about Spurrier was he was a total arse, but he knew it. His one liners were awesome and he always made media days more entertaining.
I feel like Meyer just takes himself so seriously. The guys is a great coach, but every time they lost last year he acted like "he was gonna get revenge" for it. All teams lose man. He acts like everyone is supposed to just roll over for him and UF.
Plus his recruiting tactics leave a little to be desired. And before all UF fans get over me, I know every coach is slimy at recruiting. But during the T. Tolliver recruiting he downright lied and did everything he could to screw that kid up.
Consequently, because of his massive ego, I honestly think he could bolt for the NFL since the spread is catching on there.

Agreed. Meyer is a sore loser.

Who gives a rats arse who is classier? Thats fricking stupid. No matter what either of the guys do, some people still won't like them. I don't have a problem with what Meyer did. Do I like him? No. But, no problem with what he did. I wish it would have been worse for Georgia. frick Georgia.

It wasn't classless it was juvenile. Very close to flipping Richt off and giving him the bronx cheer.

It keeps non Florida/Georgia fans talking about it on message boards like this one, which means their rivalry continues to be relevant on the regional/national scene.
Meyer and Richt are no idiots.

Who the hell cares what some dorky sportswriter has to say? Every Gator fan I know loved it. Did he have anything to say about Richt flicking off Meyer? Not very Christian of him.

What Richt did last year was classless. He deserved what he got this year.

only saw the first quarter of the game. Did Richt keep that silly f'ing grin on his face the whole game?

I agree with what UGA did last year was classless.
My point is that for the past year, all we've heard from UF and Meyer is how "they are better than that and wouldn't do something like that". And then Meyer goes and does something that in my mind was just as bad.
I know UGA threw the first punch. But if you're going to preach about how better you are than everyone, you better take the high road.
PS- Meyer also kicked that field goal against Miami up 23-3. So this is NOT a one time offense.
I think the guy's a pompous a-hole and always will- he can coach, but it doesn't make him a good person.

what did you expect from him? he clearly has a huge inferiority complex or is just an egomaniac

I'm not upset about what Florida did. Payback to Ugaly's Richt and their president for their statements when we won the National Championship last year.

When he ran up the score on Tennessee in 2007, a reporter asked him why he was doing it, and when he was told his response would be on the record, he said something to the effect of "Too bad, I would've given you the quote of a lifetime." Drayton, our RB coach now who was UF's in 2007, wouldn't answer questions about it before the game this year. The rumor was that he wanted to score more points than Fulmer's age.

Richt is a total whiner. But I just think Meyer is a world class dick.
Which absolutely kills me because I think Tebow is a really stand up kid.

As much as I think Meyer is a punk, I'd have to root for <gasp> Bammer in the ccg
