I love bama and cheer for the bball team but I'm really very ignorant about the big round ball. Any insight re: what to expect this Saturday?

It’ll be tough to beat them at their place but we’re as good as anyone when we’re clicking and so far this year we’ve had guys step up in each game.
Miller is a potential superstar if he can get out of his own head. Sears is a great guard, really a good all around player. Bediako has shown the ability to dominate underneath when he gets going, but he disappears sometimes. Bradley has had his moments. Quinerly is frustrating, because when he’s good he’s real good but when he tries to be a hero, he’s awful. Clowney might be the best of the rest, but they are all pretty solid except Miles.
Houston is good, but they’ve struggled at times this year, with some pretty awful shooting at times, going ice cold against Kent St and St Mary’s, 2 teams that aren’t exactly world beaters. Their tallest player is only 6’9, so we *should* have a rebounding edge. Sasser can absolutely shoot the ball, we’ll need to keep him in check. Roberts is their best interior guy and he’s 230 lbs at 6’7 so he might try to push our guys around underneath. Walker, their other forward, is 6’8 240 lbs, and maybe a future star. He had some big games early, but has been quiet the last few.
Bama cannot play like they did against SDSU and expect to win. 4 minute scoreless stretches would kill is against a team like Houston.
All that said, we play smart and fast and I believe we should beat our second #1 team this year.

Houston is the #1 team in the country right now and I'm pretty sure they didn't forget what happened last year at Coleman (spoiler alert, they were incredibly pissed off, even kicking the garbage cans)
On offense, Houston is inconsistent. They can score 100 points and they can score 40. When they're on fire, they are en fuego. On a good night, you can't really stop them.
Defensively, they are elite at what they do. They can lock you up in the paint and they try to supress ball movement. It's working so far, but it's going to be put to the test once we arrive in Houston.
Will be a very intertaining game to watch, the arena will be loud AF, everyone will be hyped to play.
BAMA STACKED, NCAA frickED!
(also, free hug?)

I feel very good. We have the talent and depth to beat anyone in the country.

Bama is a deep team. They have rebounded extremely well this season. If that continues, then they can hang with anyone. If they shoot the 3 well on Saturday, then they have a very good chance to win.

if the big men can finish at the rim, they can beat anyone home or away

I don’t feel great. If we don’t get out to a quick start, that place is going to be a mad house. Their fans really hate our basketball team after last year

I live in Houston and wanted to go.
Tickets are like $250/ea on stub hub.
SROs are going for over $100.
It is a small place like 9-10k but still absurd prices.

What insight do you need to know about basketball?
I mean we are playing what's considered the best team in the country, but they've largely not played many top quality opponents, so who knows?
Basketball typically isn't as surefired as to who will win as it is in football, IMO.
Top teams in football will go 10-2 or better, 6-2, 7-1 in their conference.
In basketball, top teams may only go 12-6 in their own conference.

Going to be the first real hostile environment for all the freshmen for Bama. Bama has the talent and team to beat Houston, just have to stay composed and weather the emotion.
Houston is for real though. They probably have at least 3 guys that will be drafted in 2023 draft.

What could Bama possibly be ranked if we win? #8 now another win against a #1 team should do wonders for our ranking.

Up for sure, but it really doesn't matter in December. In fact, it can be a detriment. Ask UNC
