Over the course of his career, Hugh Freeze is a coach who consistently wins 7-9 games a year. He’s 83-42 (8.3-4.2) on the field in 10 seasons at Arkansas State, Ole Miss, and Liberty.

Despite being a consistent 8-4 coach, his teams are inconsistent from week to week. He’ll win huge upsets and then drop a game the next week to an inferior opponent.

So my question is this: how long will Freeze last at Auburn if he performs at his usual level?

Would Auburn accept 7-6, 9-3, and 8-4 with one win over Bama? With no wins over Bama but one over Georgia?

I'd set the line at 4 years. Auburn can't afford to pay another buyout so if they want to fire him it'll have to be once his buyout is at a reasonable amount.

I suspect he will improve on that average a little. At Auburn he gets the benefit of getting to play cupcakes. At Ark St, OM and Liberty, he WAS the cupcake.

71% at Liberty is solid but it’s not 71% in the SEC.

If that’s the logic you’re going to use then why didn’t you go after JMU’s coach?

Do you think maybe it’s because that line of thinking is stupid as frick?

He has to play UGA and Bama annually. Auburn doesn’t exactly have the best roster rn either. He’s gonna need to build it through recruiting or the portal.

I think you may be stupid if you're knocking a coach you don't know anything about. Someone will grab Cignetti. Guy is part of the Nick Saban coaching tree and went to rebuild his Dad's old DII program once Bama turned around. Has turned around every program he's been at and headed Alabama's recruiting while Saban rebuilt that program.

If you knew what you were talking about you should have called out App State's coach. That's a program which has historically been the big dog in a small pond so winning is just something that "happens" there no matter who is coaching them.
