Let’s stop the shite posting about Gus

Did Gus have his faults? Absolutely. And was it time for him to go? Probably.
But we’re not in the position we’re in because of Gus.
He NEVER embarrassed the program like Harsin and his family. And Gus embraced Auburn unlike the Harsins.
Yes, Gus’ recruiting of OL was abysmal and the QB play under him was infuriating at times, but outside of one or two games against Bama/UGA I always felt like the team had a chance to win. He generally recruited well and we were almost always ranked preseason.
If you want to blame anyone, blame Leath for being a lazy administrator and agreeing to a huge extension. And blame all the other administrators and all the PTB who created havoc behind the scenes. Also, blame Harsin for not embracing NIL and portal (and apparently recruiting in general) right AT THE MOMENT every other school was taking advantage of shifting college landscape.
I’m glad Cohen, Roberts and McGlynn all seem to understand what’s at stake and AU’s potential. This might be first time in my lifetime that AU actually makes a hire that’s considered a splash.
Also, none of the above matters since we’re a basketball school anyway.

I disagree completely.
It’s completely cathartic for good Auburn people to vent frustrations about Gus or anything else they feel the need to vent about.
We still have freedom no matter how hard some want to cancel, shun. shame, etc.
I’m happy for Gus. He finally won a meaningful game on the road again yesterday. I like the guy and I always pull for him.
With that said, it was past time. The shelf life of fire and passion for a coach at the same place is 7-10 years this day in time.

When his recruiting and OLine development problems are gone, then so shall he be.

Not trying to shame or cancel anyone, but just don’t understand the Gus hate (because that’s how it comes across).
Not sure about you but the 2013 season was magical. ‘17 and ‘19 were fun too. And not sure there’s any other active coach who beat Saban as many times as Gus (check me on that, because that could be wrong).

I don’t look at it as “hate.”
Like I said, I like the guy. But never mix business and friendships.
The program was CLEARLY trending down as it usually does after about 7 years.

The foundation of this mess is Gus.
This begs the question, however: if Harsin had a decent OL when he arrived, how different would things be right now? We probably win 10 games last season. Nix likely stays. This year would look much different too. I know that, eventually, the Harsin climate and lack of recruiting would have caught up with him but it's something to ponder.

Yes, now that you’ve posted this, we’ll surely stop talking about Gus

I can almost guarantee you that Harsin’s program management would not have changed much this year, and likely would have only gotten us an extra win or two last year. I heard ridiculously dumb things from the inside as early as January 2021. The honeymoon effect wore off quick with those in the building.

Naturally I thought he was FOS, but now I’m not sure.

Honestly, I don't think many here hate Gus but, he does deserve his share of credit for the state of the problems with recruiting and developing.
I wish Gus well and pull for him, as long as he isn't play us or affecting Auburn.
Now Harsin, the more I hear the more I dislike him. I will never pull for him to get a job or win a game anywhere that doesn't help Auburn somehow.

Gus would be a major up grade compared to what we had the last 2 years. I loved Saturdays under Gus and always thought we could win. Gus is 2 years gone LET IT GO. The future is bright for Auburn. Also all you Harsin lovers past and present go (you know) your self.

Probably? Probably? He was running our program into the ground. Just because Harsin sucks more does not mean firing dumb Gus was wrong.

Yes we are. We have an OL worse than Hoover high school.

Nah I blame Gus for not recruiting OL or adapting his offense or hiring great assistants instead of “yes men”
He could of lasted here forever but was too stubborn

Harsin would never win 10 games last year if he traded teams with Saban or smart. He is a shite coach and never made adjustments. Gus would have won 9 games last year with this same team because he is just a better coach.
The irony of all this is that we are now looking for another coach that we hope will be as good as the guy we paid a ton of money to to get him to leave.

Any Gus hate was in passing. Right ? Most of the hate has been about Harsin
