It didn’t happen overnight. And it runs a lot deeper than BOB’s route trees or Golding, though they both should be fired today.

It’s a philosophy. Watch that Georgia-UT game and watch Bama last night. Georgia is what we used to be. A nasty, shutdown defense. A team that establishes the run and uses the play action pass off that. And a physicality that dominates teams.

You have a talented back in Gibbs and we don’t even to pretend to establish the run. Don’t even try. And that lack of physicality bleeds over to the defense.

For this to change, Saban has to change the whole philosophy of where this program is as at.

They changed the offense in 2014. Half of Saban's titles came after that.

How does our team not running the football affect our defenses physicality?

You know there was a reason Nick shed tears publicly when Kirby left for UGA. I noticed it then and now I realize it wasn’t tears of joy.

We changed the offense in 2014 into order to modernize that side of the ball. It led to three titles and a host of SEC titles.

Hiring Bill O’Brien effectively negated all of the advancement we made on that side of the ball. It was like throwing water on a fire. Worst hire of Saban’s career because it was so lazy and everyone knew what we were getting.

Bingo.

If Saban truly wants us to return for one more shot at this he has to beat the brush and find the coaches. We have the players.

The offense changed when we hired Kiffin in 2014. We have won 3 NCs and 6 SEC championships since then. This year's team is the culmination of back to back recruiting classes (20-21) full of misevaluations at OL and WR, a string of recruiting whiffs at DL, and the worst coaching staff we have had since Shula.

Its just a sign of the times. Half of these freak athletes are dumber than rocks and almost uncoachable.

It reflects in the NFL, as well. UGa looks good because Kirby still emphasizes football basics. We tackle like shite.

We need to recruit kids with football smarts.

I’d like our tackling technique to emphasize ending the play asap. Put the runner on the ground. The strip/tackle tug of war is not working. Keeps the other 10 guys on the field longer than necessary.

I have been saying this all year. A lot of our problems start up front . Especially against teams with a pulse

It changed again in 2017-2018 with Tua

Bama's NC in 2015/2016 with Derrick Henry was very different from their NC in 2017/2018 with Tua and their NC in 2020/2021 with Mac

Derrick Henry had 36 carries for 158 yards and 3 TDs (Coker threw it 25 times for 2 TDs)

Najee Harris had 6 carries for 64 yards (Tua threw the ball 24 times for 3 TDs in the second half vs UGA)

Najee Harris had 22 carries for 79 yards and 2 TDs in the Natty vs Ohio St (Mac Jones threw it 45 times for 5 TDs)

Maybe we can bring back Jim Mclewain and lose to LSU 9-6 instead of 33-32.
BTW, Kirby brought in Monken to modernize their offense and still, Bama destroyed them in the SECCG.
Saban went wrong when he brought in an NFL coordinator running an outdated NFL offense.
