So much talk by both fans and media.

UGA is coming off a NC so it will sting but we will get over it.

UT not being back yet again and going off a really tall cliff could be a serious mental health issue.

It’ll be disappointing for UT fans. I have a few close friends who are UT alum, so I hope they win it all. It’d be cool to have 4 years of very different SEC programs winning the CFP.

The days in the immediate aftermath will be pretty congenial and dignified in defeat. Then revisionist history will kick in and Tennessee fans will talk about how they should've won and/or the game was closer than the final score indicated.

After they get that shite out of their system, they'll fade away from tRant until the week before the SECCG, at which time they'll go into politicking mode and tell us all why they deserve to be in the playoff.

Then they'll fade away again until the Sugar Bowl and brag about how Tennessee sold 30,000 tickets for the game and how great Tennessee fans are.

Life goes on. Worst case they have an 1-1 season in year 2 of a total rebuild with a bright future.

Despite the Tennessee offseason chest pounding that they do every year regardless of how good their team is, they all know they're WELL ahead of schedule with this year's showing. And they just beat Alabama for the first time in 15 years to top it off. Unless they somehow lose the last five straight, I don't see how their spirits are damaged.

After baseball, then losing football. Would be the biggest disaster ever

They had an early exit in the basketball tourney, too. But this isn't the same as basketball and baseball, imo.

VOLS are playing with house money atp and even if we lose saturdee, there is a better than decent chance VOLS still make the CFP depending on how things shake out

The absolute worst case scenario for VOLS is we take our Sugar Bowl berth and birdwalk into NOLA for the first time in decades

The Aggy roller coaster moves to Tennessee? After all, October is over.

It's great as a fan to have good football, basketball and baseball during the year whether we win it all or not.

Getting late in the week. Coping mechanisms already being placed at the ready position. The calm before the storm is fading. Vols fans now bracing for impact with the eye wall of a red and black hurricane.

I don't know how I'll bear it. Imagine, hoping we win at least 9 with a chance for ten in a bowl game, but only finishing 11-1 with a chance of winning a 12th in a bowl game.

I'll feel (somewhat) bad for the true Vol fans here that have been upjumped into elevated expectations by the sudden influx of alter-trolls who will disappear, immediately, and leave them to deal with the fallout and pick up the pieces.

The reality is, even with a loss to UGA, they should feel excited, but that feeling will have been robbed from them by their own.
