to make the playoff.
I know I said earlier that Tenn was going to beat UGA but after watching their defense last night I don’t think that’ll happen anymore. They won’t get the help they got from the refs at home when they play in Athens. The committee isn’t putting 3 SEC teams in so a one lose Bama SEC champ and and 1 loss UGA will be in while a one loss Tenn will be left home. It’ll be the first time in the playoff era that a deserving team has been left out.

Is Tennessee's defense good enough to make the playoffs?

Voters seem to be dinging teams for deficiencies (despite the wins on the resume')

We’ve got a gator team to play first.

If Okie’s was good enough a few years ago Tenn’s is good enough now. It’s not good enough o get 3 SEC teams in though.

It does set up better than not in Athens.

However, we have the following going on:
Jalen Carter is still out and won’t be back until UF
Stetson has shoulder issues
Top 2 WR’s are banged up (AD Mitchell and McConkey). AD hasn’t played in 4 weeks.
Top LB is banged up (Smael Mondon) and not played the last two weeks

We did beat Auburn 42-10 and Vandy 55-0, some consistency is back. This bye week to heal is much needed.

We need Carter back and not have him disappear like Will Anderson

Only giving up 23 points a game while scoring 47.6. Maybe the D isn’t as bad you believe it is….

23 ppg is bad though, not championship quality

Our defensive woes are way overblown. Our aim is to make you hit in the passing game. If you can pass the ball we'll come after you and if you can beat that, fair play. We are not a good pass defense for sure. But it is not easy to run the ball on us consistently. It's not like teams are just steamrolling us, Richardson had a career game, and the Heisman winner played like a Heisman winner against us. LSU didn't do much against us and Pitt had a SCTop10 catch on 4th down against us or we hold them to 20

Until you actually played somebody and then you gave up 49

It's not elite but there have been playoff teams with worse defenses, and since we're talking overall deficiencies, worse offenses than our defense.

This won’t be an issue. The refs won’t let Carter get tackled all game in Athens and you DC won’t do stupid stunts with him all game.

Why would Golding let the safety cover the inside receiver 20 yards off the ball all game. No adjustments were made.

No way Hyatt should be scoring 5 td’s like that.

IT
DEPENDS
ON
THE
OTHER
P5
CHAMPS

Astounding that people still can't get this through their thick skulls. The only reason the SEC got 2 team in last year and in 2017 is because there wasn't another 0/1 loss P5 champion to put over them.

I don't care how many 1 loss SEC teams there are, if ACC/Big 10/Pac12/Big12 champs all have 0-1 loss, the SEC is only getting 1 team in. Period. End of story.

Right now, with the shite show known as Bama football, I am not sure they will beat anyone left on the schedule except Austin Peay.

You do understand that giving up 23 points a game isn't very good, right?

Maryland and Rutgers are at about that level.

That’s another issue you guys won’t have. Hyatt is crazy fast but that’s it. Tenn did a great job of keeping him lineup on safeties the entire game and we never went to a dime package. We also only blitz 4-5 times in the entire game which is something Kirby won’t let happen. Pete always puts the full pressure of the pass rush on 31 and 15.

There actually needed to be 2 more last year.

Let's not forget UGA was in the #3 spot. They were (quite correctly) ahead of Cincy in the selection list.

It would be ironic (not to mention excruciatingly painful) for the stinking Vols to have to root for Bama to win the SECCG
