So really…why can’t Bama’s DBs look for the ball?

It's called in phase and out of phase... Google it. Go to sleep and stop drinking.

It’s terrible if that’s how they’re coached.

In phase is technically a higher percentage chance of stopping a pass. It’s why we use it.

Not to mention looking back for the ball often results in running into the receiver and getting DPI.

We play mostly man coverage. Our corners are usually on an island. If you’re not in phase it would be catastrophic to turn around and the ball goes over you head for an 80 yard touchdown. This is another false narrative that has been put on Alabama dbs for years. If our corners are so terrible name two schools that have more first round corners than Alabama.

Nobody doubts Bama’s DBs are talented, but just look at the huge number of PI calls vs the tiny number of interceptions.

Why don’t you go tell that to Saban, the greatest CB coach of all time

You complain more than a thirteen year ago girl with braces having her first period whose only boyfriend just dumped her and her pet cat died. Edited to add, trust me, I know because I raised daughters

It’s almost as if people who have been here for years and have these answers provided to them routinely can’t retain that information for more than one year.

Some DO/can take a quick peek if the're squeezing the sideline and have a good angle. It's obviously a big no-no to turn your head back to the QB before your man's through with his route, or he's able to stop and make you run up his back.

Who knows but CNS swears they are, even though they won’t 95% of the time.

The hardest position in football is quarterback. Defensive back is a very close 2nd. Staying in phase with someone who knows where they're going while you don't is difficult to do if they're walking, let alone running full speed. Adding locate the football to that equation required instincts and experience the average 20 year old football player usually doesn't have. The good news is this will be the 1st time in a while we aren't losing one or both outside corners to the pros.
