Honest thoughts on LSU-Tennessee

This is a terrible matchup for LSU.
LSU's passing game has been terrible, probably not good enough to take advantage of Tennessee's bad passing defense. If Daniels starts and is hindered by his injuries, it will be a long day. Alternatively, not really sure what to expect from Nussmeier if he should have significant playing time vs a soft pass defense.
LSU has also started slow in nearly every game this season, a recipe for disaster vs an offense like Tennessee.
LSU's secondary is very thin and is susceptible to giving up big plays at times.
Prediction
Tennessee- 31
LSU - 17

LSU will score more than that, likely 24-27, but will lose

I’m not quite as pessimistic as you but Tennessee should win the game for sure.
That the spread is as short as it is gives me a little hope.

LSU has been slow starters most of the season, Tennessee is the first opponent that will make them pay if they can’t come out scoring early.
Just my .02

I don’t think we win, honestly.
Our best chance is to limit the damage in the first half, then hit the second half strong like we have every game this year. Passing will be a must for us.

We should win but that doesn't mean we necessarily will win. We have been in two very close games and in both of those games we should have won by multiple scores.

I see our defense matching up well with Tenn's strengths. But you're right about our woeful passing game. We will have to run the ball and probably convert a few 4th and shorts.

Tennessee has been the better team so far this year. LSU should be a dog even at home

Day game or night game? For whatever reason, tougher to beat them in Tiger stadium at night.

I’m not expecting an LSU win but I’m expecting a competitive game… hopefully…

It will be tough because LSU will have to do two things they haven't shown us that they can.
Start fast and throw the ball downfield.

if we're gonna lose anyway, why not just toss that shite up and let our WRs make plays?
if we keep the same offense we'll end up punting it down there anyway. let bech, boutte, nabors, jenkins, or thomas get some 50/50 balls against Tenn's weaker pass D

11 am cst.
Terrible for LSU atmosphere.
If LSU had any kind of a passing game, I'd lean them, but they don't.
Teams will (Auburn already had) begin to figure Daniels' want to leave the pocket after a brief read and spy him.

I would like LSU’s chances better if it was at night

Not really. The 11am atmosphere was fantastic for Florida last year and this is a bigger game than that.
It's just that usually if LSU is playing at 11am, they're playing McNeese State or someone similar.
The game is sold out, it's going to be a great atmosphere.

Tennessee has the firepower. LSU will struggle to keep up. We are not game planning for Daniels nearly as well as we should. Still, I see a close game because our defense is making excellent second half adjustments. In my opinion because of Tiger Stadium and our defense I think we will be in it until the very end. If we win it will be similar to the Auburn score. 24-20 or so.

Tennersee is going to cornhole us. Hopefully that wakes up Grindin' Brian to fix his team. We were absolute dog shite last weekend.

Crowd will no doubt be raucous, but night time is different.

I down voted you, but you're probably right.

Matchup wise, I think it's actually a plus for LSU. Our biggest weakness on offense matches up with their biggest weakness on defense. Tennessee is probably the better team and should win, but that doesn't make it a particularly bad matchup. A bad matchup for LSU would be facing a team with a good pass defense that stacks the box and forces us to beat them throwing the ball. If Tennessee was good in pass coverage, that would be a nightmare matchup for LSU.
What LSU can't afford to do against Tennessee is what they did against Auburn. If LSU gets down by two touchdowns early against Tennessee, very doubtful they'll ever be able to catch back up.
