Forgive me. You do know what median means, right?
It seems more appropriate for a discussion about admissions than mean.
Edit to add: you are welcome to tout Auburn's median freshman student from 2022.

The post wasn't something used for admissions, its used to show how "smart" the incoming class is to make the school seem more reputable. Every school does this.
Do you know statistics at all?
If the mean were higher than the median, do you not think the school would have used it in a post that is essentially an advertisement?
I've literally called Auburn a cow college in this thread, but you chose to try to nitpick a comment when you don't know what you're talking about.

The thread is about Auburn students denied admissions to UGA from the Atlanta area.
If your SAT and ACT are under the median and you are attending Auburn, KSU, GSU, or UNG from the Atlanta area, you were probably denied admittance to UGA or you didn't apply because you didn't think you would get in.
If I'm boasting about the best students in UGAs freshmen class, them I'm boasting about the honors program. The median puts you right in the middle (you knew that but replied anyway).

Whole lot of text to say absolutely nothing and give no evidence that you know how to properly interpret a median being higher than the average

Or MAYBE not everyone WANTS to go to UGA? I know that's a shocker to you, but some people have no interest in that school at all.

UGA guarantees placement to the valedictorian and salutorian for every high school in the state of Georgia. That is 808 high schools. Not all of those kids want to attend UGA. But enough of them can drop the mean lower than the median.
Is that what you want?
The board of regents prioritizing Georgia students regardless of background and merit and giving them an opportunity for a UGA diploma despite their test scores and AP/DE/IB load? Acceptance and placement solely based on their class rank.
Why would you ask a question if you didn't already know the answer?
Not a good look.

I agree.
Those students apply to Georgia Tech.
If they can't get into GIT, then they also apply to Auburn, GSU, KSU, and UNG.
I'm glad we could agree on something.

UGA fans are so fricking full of themselves
It's a fricking STATE SCHOOL!
Look at some of the jerkoff UGA fans who post here and tell me they are truly educated. You can't because you'd be lying your arse off like your most famous football player is now.

Georgia lets in almost half of those that apply. Let’s stop pretending it is competitive to get accepted there

I know people will say "brain damage" and whatnot about Herschel, but I truly think hes just that stupid and always has been.

Nah. He was top 1% at UGA. If he's not lying (about that), let that sink in for a minute.

You know that maintaining the HVAC equipment and trouble shooting heat exchangers on campus doesn't count as you going to UGA?

If you are a UGA freshman, have a 31 on your ACT, 1340 on your SAT, and only completed 7 AP/dualenrollment/internationalbaccalaureate classes, then half of your freshman class are better than you.
The truth is that most of the high school population isn't looking to do the work to get into UGA (other schools are dropping the SAT/ACT requirement. Other schools are not requiring essays with admissions). A 1280 SAT with 5 APs is looking at Georgia State or Kennesaw State. I know. I have a freshman at KSU who regrets not getting his application in to UGA.
A ton of students are looking at UNG with the option to transfer in later.

I have a family member who tutored Herschel in college.
Let's just say that every college had/has those "student" athletes.
For every student, it is about "where do you go from here".

What a bullshite story.
No one here believes that anyone you are related to could actually go to college

I wonder if anyone that had an SAT and ACT scores higher than those didn’t get accepted into a Ivy League school?
There was this one girl here in The DFW area that had 1550 SAT and a 3.95 GPA but didn’t get accepted into USC, Stanford, Harvard or the Ivy League Schools, she got waitlisted by Rice and then accepted to Texas now she’s at Arizona State. Anyone with a SAT between 1090-1390 could go to Texas Tech, OU, or A&M, When I graduated in 2019 overwhelmingly a lot of people in my class were going to Tech, and it’s hard to get into Texas you need a SAT like 1470.

You were wrong about the topic of the thread.
Wrong about median acceptance and mean acceptance.
Now, congrats on the hat trick! Lol
At least you are consistent.

That isn’t necessarily true. A median is the middle number when you arrange a column smallest to largest. So if you had five freshman whose ACT scores were 31, 31, 33, 25, 18 then the median would be 31.
If the number of AP classes taken were 0, 2, 14, 14, and 7 the the median number of AP classes would be 7.
That doesn’t mean that the median student has a 31 and took 7 AP classes. The two things are graphed independently.
Common sense would suggest that the acceptee with a low ACT would have to do other things to boost his application like have a high GPA and take advanced courses. While the hypothetical applicant with a 33 who applies himself and does the extracurriculars in high school will go somewhere better than UGA.
