I graduated from Auburn. Originally from the Houston area. UGA shares a spot with Texas A&M as the only other group of people I’ve ever witnessed to circle jerk in unison over their admission rates…
Is it more difficult to get in to UGA than AU ? Probably. I’ve never researched it. Is it more difficult to get into A&M than UofH ? Yes. Is it Rice though ? NO !! So just stop with that nonsense ??
Nobody nationally thinks of Texas A&M as a prestigious academic institution outside the greater Bryan area. The same goes for UGA outside of Georgia.

I know several people with degrees from both AU and UGA and without exception they are all Auburn fans.

Not really accurate. UGA is considered on par academically with public colleges like Ohio State, Purdue and Wisconsin at a national level.
Is it Ivy league? Of course not. But for students looking for a top notch education at a public school nationwide, the only places clearly ahead of it it this point would be UNC, UVA, Michigan and a few of the California public universities.
The only reason the admission rates get talked about is in showing the impact of HOPE. HOPE drove applications to UGA (and other state schools) through the roof. This allowed UGA to accept a higher quality of student due to the higher number of applications for the same number of spots... which led to their climb of academic rankings which has created a replicating cycle that also leads to higher numbers of out of state elite students going to UGA.

For almost everyone I've met, the undergrad school they went to first gets the fandom as long as it is a sports school.
My wife did her undergrad at UGA and graduate school at South Carolina. 100% dawg. I have a friend who did the reverse. 100% gamecock.
