I mean, when you give up 300 yards to Mercer and San Jose State, then 500 yards to Penn State, those numbers are going to look pretty bleak.

I'd be interested to see how bad their defensive success rate is, because a ton of that yardage on Saturday came on third down.

Yeah, I have no clue what is going on with the defense. The staff is just bad. DL is okay, but the guys off the edge are getting pressure on QB but just not finishing the play. LBers are taking false steps and terribly slow at their reads bad in coverage. DBs are giving massive cushions on short yardage situations like 3rd &4. Safeties are slow. It's just an absolute mess.

It's a function of the modern offense, IMO.

As your offense improves, those defensive numbers invariably go down.
