Auburn is going to have a long season and I don’t see him making it with other coaches who were already on the hot seat not making it out of September. Auburn boosters like

It is pretty much a done deal, unless he turns it around quickly.

When Harsin named Finley the starter I knew it was going to be a long season for Auburn. Knew they were in trouble if Finley was the best they had. But in fairness to Finley, it's not all on him. Auburn has a ton of problems.

They don’t seem to have a lot of good players from what I’ve seen. He is not a good recruiter.

Depends on if we lose to Mizzou. If so the next day. If we win then he will probably last til we get embarrassed next time. They already started rumors he may leave for other schools.

Most of that was Gus. The OLine has been going downward for awhile without Gus bringing in good players. Harsin just hasnt made it better and Losing our starting all SEC center right before the season didnt help.

I actually agree with finebaum on this one, but also disagree with him at the same time.

the fact that he doesn't have a boss might keep him around since the interim is not gonna be hiring the next coach.

ON THE OTHER HAND THOUGH, I remember verrrrrryyy vividly the last bert year a very similar situation occurred. We held long outside of the Board office for like 4 hours telling him to wait, and would see him soon. then let him in, said you're fired for being an incompetent self serving no good yankee, and then hired a secretary as interim. then we let her "play AD Coaching search" while the boosters behind the scenes fought with eachother, tried to hire gus for the 50th time, gus got a raise, and we hired chud based on a good recommendation from Gus, and a certain NFL owner who's grandson was starting over chad's son at QB in return for a Scholly for said grandson.

looking back the second option is much more in line with auburn's usual approach. our boosters probably thought it would make Gus more comfortable during negotiations since it was what he was used to, and seemed to prefer.

The reason I wished Boosters would donate and go on. I would want my input for who I wanted if I donated enough but if no one else got a say I would be happy with just hiring a competent AD and letting him decide.

It would never happen because all Boosters wouldn't agree and if one was arguing his side then they would all want to.

yea that sounds like a succinct version of events that transpired here. damn they really did try, and copy the aub model for gus.

Has Harsin just totally ignored oline or are highly ranked olinemen ignoring Auburn?

It’s like Auburn has a long standing stigma and Will Friend/Harsin can’t overcome it.

There is only so much you can do with an entire oline after it has gotten so bad. Even if Harsin signed 4 5*s OL. They still have to gel together and catch up. Plus the Center Quit football starting the season. Plus if you truly follow football then there have been plenty of times that you have looked at the coaches and ADs and thought why they did something so stupid. That has been what is been like watching Auburn recruit OLinemen about since Tubberville left. Its like they don't care much about them. They oversign in one position and ignore the OL. Even if you have to settle for lower guys you still need so many every year to keep up.

The rest of the team not improving since hes arrived is why he is in trouble.

THIS!! I posted this the other day. the one thing I learned once pittman left for UGA, and the O line fell off a cliff here is that it is one of the hardest things to fix. FSU still hasn't recovered from what Jimbo did to their O line. Texas has the same issue for 10 years, LSU for the last 3. South Car for however long now, etc Have a drop off at O line for a single year then you are rebuilding, but 2 years in a row it starts to become a habitual thing that seems like it is the hardest thing to fix out of any place on the team. you gotta have 5 good ones to be good, and you gotta have at the very minimum 3 more behind them that are close. having 8 Good players with no drop off at any other position would be considered HELLA DEEP, on O line you have enough to survive an injury, or so. The fact that 8&4, and Bama have struggled the last 2 years on the O line makes me wonder if its their turn to deal with the plague.

Under Gus it was S&C, under Harsin it is recruiting. Under Friend it is coaching.

Would love it, but our OL got dominated by an FCS team last week and made KSU look like an NFL team. The same KSU team that lost this week to Tulane.

Whatever the spread is, put your house on Auburn.

Georgia couldn't sign good linemen when Will Friend and Mark Richt were at Georgia. Harsin = Richt in a lot of ways it seems.
