ESPN has an article up on Petrino's return. Any strong feelings either way on him being back in Fayetteville? For me I'm always going to wonder what the next 3 years would have brought. Would it have been more awesome football or would things have fallen apart anyways.

We would have been better, but I didn't think his recruiting was holding together. Especially on the OL. Our QBs got hit. A lot. Was it the OL or the QB's holding the ball too long?

No bad feelings after the 3 atrocity of coaches we had after him.

That would have been our last good year. Probably would have been fired after. He refused to recruit. He benefited from that historically good Arkansas class.

I plan to stand and applaud when he comes out. Those were some amazing years and I’m not going to fault him a decade later for getting caught up in some administrative state red tape.

There has to be a person who sits down coaches and says, have a burner phone, don’t hire your mistress to report directly to you, don’t use your wife to pay recruits.

won't be able to make the game, will be at Harding this weekend.

BUt, If I were, I would stand and applaud him as a former coach who had success. However, I absolutely understand the firing and agreed with it.

I watched him at the LRTD club and he was apologetic and gracious towards Arkansas overall.

And, He would not have had another great season here. His recruiting and the attrition of his players was getting ridiculous. Just look at his 2nd stent at Louisville as an example overall

If he had come here during the Chad Morris era, I would have found it much more difficult to bury that hatchet

But I don't have any particular ill-will toward him at this point.

I’ll be at the game and I plan to boo him. (Though is there every a point where the opposing coach is called out individually?)

You’re generous, Cheshire.

That said, I have no ill will either.

His last two recruiting classes 2011 and 2012 were pretty good. Had Bobby been the coach in 2013-2015 then he would have some double digit seasons.

Instead Bert wasted talent in that time frame.

Considering his stupidity set off the worst decade in Arkansas Football history. I wouldn't mind beating him by 1000 if possible.

I don't believe we have or ever will get the full story on what really got him fired.

He didn't set off the worst era of football since the 50s. That blame will always be on Jeff Long and the Arkansas boosters.

Pretty sure him setting up the school for lawsuits due to him hiring his horse face lover over legit candidates is the main reason why he was fired, and also of course lying to his boss.

It’s Always somebody else’s fault.

I guess I misheard and it was Jeff and the Boosters who screwed a college age girl, hired her as his assistant to recruiting, and the got his arse beat when the girls fiancé found out?

Say what you want, if Bobby keeps it his his pants none of that happens and Brian Kelly’s long lost father AKA John L Smith doesn’t take over and begin the downfall.

Us sucking for a decade stings but it doesn't change the fact that while he was here it was the most fun I've had as a fan.

:boo this man gif:

frick him and the atrocities that ensued after he fricked around on his wife.

The worst 8 years of Razorback football in 50 + years of my fandom.

The lawsuits would have happened regardless if he was fired or not and nothing came from that. Big time head coaches lie to all people regardless of who they are all the time. The difference is some hide it better and some schools are better than others keeping things like that under wraps. Also Jeff Long was a liar as well who brought a bunch of strippers and poles to a basketball game in front of children. When the heat got on him, he lied and said it was all the idea of Snoop Dog but he fired back and said it was his idea not his.

I believe Long knew about what was happening with Dorrell and Petrino but couldn't cover it up entirely and when it came to an investigation, he quickly blamed Petrino and wasn't aware of an affair which is BS. So if Petrino was going to be fired then Long should have taken his lying arse with him.

What are you talking about?

Almost every good player on Bert's good teams were his.

That historic defense was all his players.

Flowers and Philon were both petrino. Now quite a few of the Olineman were pittmans so those were Bert’s recruits and speight was a bert guy but quite a few were petrinos and I can almost guarantee he would’ve got the most out of Brandon Allen sooner rather than later. I think the 2014 season would’ve been another double digit win year instead of 7-6
