That was a problem with a lot of his throws.
From seeing it live:
Positives:
-He can run.
-Did make short and intermediate throws.
-Got the ball out quick but may not have gone through his progression.
Negatives:
-Inaccurate throws over 20 yards.
-Doesn't have the touch on shorter throws - he fast balled the throws he didn't need to.
He needs to watch the entire tenure of Alex Smith in Kansas City, that's who he should model his game off of.

You expected him to make passes that other SEC QBs can’t make? Why?
I meant “could”make fixed it. A few of his incompletions are passes Bazelak makes. He looked like Bazelak 2.0
I know it’s early and his first regular season start, but I wasn’t expecting him to look like Bazelak 2.0.

Makes you really appreciate Drew Lock and his ability to drop it anywhere from 60 yards away.
Horn's videos seem to show that he can make all the throws. With his talent, (and the transfer portal always looming) I wonder if he fits in later this year.

Minus the Bernie Kosaresque pocket presence of Bazelak, he looked eerily similar.

I think we see Horn this year unless Cook improves his deep ball considerably

Disagree. Cook is much better than Bazelak, my mind is still blown how Eli kept trotting Bazelak out there last year.

Not at throwing the ball down the field.
He was much more mobile.
And he didn’t give away possessions with horrible passes and reads.

Nothing like Bazelak. Bazelak couldn’t move, Cook can pretty well. Baze threw ridiculous back breaking interceptions. Cook hasn’t, yet.
The only similarity I’ve seen is that neither has a really effective deep ball. Hopefully Cook improves on that, but you know what they say about hope

Agreed he is better. The reason he is an improvement is because of his pocket presence and Cook is a better athlete. I don’t know about how much better he is than Bazelak because their passing looked pretty similar.

How many downfield throws were thrown and caught? plus how many wide receivers were wide open or got separated from a defender?

Need to get ready for a tough opponent next weekend.
I will stand by this being the game of the year for you guys. What ignited Arkansas last year was putting the boots to Texas. Take K-State out behind the woodshed and I think Missouri has momentum behind them.

IMHO, this is what we need to do to be successful...
1. Drink cannot call any plays that require sideways throws. They haven't worked in 2 years, unless you count when Burden bailed him out last night for the TD.
2. Half of every series needs to be 1st and Bannister for 5 yards. No one can stop him and it's a simple throw.
3. Peat is the starting RB.
4. Send Hopper on a blitz on 3rd and longs. Protect the safeties on long routes by not giving the QB time.
5. Promote the bagman that secured the Hopper boys. That was nice work.
6. Run more QB read/option. Cook is good at that.
7. DC gets a raise and whatever else he wants.
8. Someone burn the trick play book.
9. Book the bowl game.

The defense looked good last night. They are definitely better than the last few years. Hopper is good and the LB’s looked solid. The secondary could be pretty good. They are good athletes and read the ball good last night.
The secondary messed up a few times lining up out of position and missing some tackles. On the long TD it looked like we were in a 4-3-4 zone and the DB didn’t check the WR at the line and he was able to run full speed and get behind the safeties.
The problems the secondary made lining up out of position and not checking the WR can be fixed in film and walking through the plays in practice.
The biggest problem the defense will have is the front 4 in conference play.

I’ve been watching Bazelak tonight vs. ilini. Sub 50% completion rate with an int and a td. He’s constantly throwing over people’s heads.
Cook is the better of the two.

What the hell happened to Bazelak? Kid was a monster, then everything went to hell the next season.

He injured his throwing hand that first year, has never been the same.

I thought his right ACL tear was worse from the Arkansas game. He never looked right running since.
